Carcass' Reek Of Putrefaction is one of the best examples of truly hideous production, and I f**king LOVE it!!  :drink:

The youtube clip of this actually sounds better than the cd I have and the original vinyl.

I'll think of more later. The thing I hate most other than feedback and muddy sounding tracks is when the vocals get buried in the mix or when you can hear plectrums on strings.

This is the worst:

Transylvanian Hungers production is famously awful. .

I personally love the way this album sounds.

You'll find that nearly all black metal and early thrash/death sounds like utter garbage regardless of most of the bands being on decent labels.

Slayer's first two albums sound like they were recorded in a bucket.

Eyehategod's first album has really poor production, but in many ways it just adds to the disease ridden miserable vibe that EHG do so well.

please do not mock my potato.

Mr. DS

I always thought Metallica's St. Anger was one of the worst produced album ever.  The drums sound like they were recorded a mile away from the microphone.

The snare drum sounds like a trash can lid. Funny thing is that album is so awful the first time I listened to it it got me sick for real.

From what I read in Lords of Chaos I think the poor quality was purpose. I may be wrong, but what an album. I'm gonna dig it out now and give it a blast.

MrMari

The fact that there was an actual "producer" behind Jan Terri's albums is quite shocking.
