Umaril The Unfeathered

Did any of you catch this very rare Karloff film a week or so ago on TCM?  It's been a LONG time since I've seen this one perhaps back in my WNEW 5 Creature Features days even!

In any case, Karloff gets a well-deserved ton of respect for his energy and dedication despite his advanced age and physical problems.  He was a trooper in every aspect of the word, and even moreso in his later films such as Die, Monster, Die! and the outstanding 1968 movie, Targets.

Watching him, and hearing that amazingly distinct voice of his, it's like he never died at all.

I'd like to think that somewhere, in some dark, secluded castle, Karloff is still bent over an operating table, working on his creation, wondering how he can banter back and forth between the dungeon and the party going on upstairs in the castle ballroom, without arousing the suspicion of his small army of guests he has to entertain for the night.

FRANKENSTIEN 1970 trivia: The actor (actually a pro wrestler) who played Hans in the film-Mike Lane-also played the bandaged monster. In the 70's,Lane was a more traditional Frankenstein Monster in the kid TV show the MONSTER SQUAD!

I actually saw this for the first time when I recorded it from TCM recent airing. Goofy plot but Karloff is terrific! All the talk and no actual scary-lookin' monster would have probably bored me to tears if I'd seen this as a kid!
If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

Really? Oh wow, great bit of info, RC!

I thought it was David Prowse,  aka Darth Vader from the Star Wars eps 4, 5, and 6.  One thing though, Mike Lane was TALL, wow!  :buggedout:
