A lady who works in the admin part of our local clinic helped me apply for financial aid for one of my insulins. It cost $112 a vial and they're kinda small. Well, after 3 months she called me and said I'd been approved. I hurried over there and had 10 vials waiting for me...$1120 of medicine for free. I almost danced in the waiting room.  :bouncegiggle:
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

Good for you!! I know how expensive insulin can be.  My best friend is a diabetic.

That is good news.  Kind of a coincidince, but Saturday, I'll be taking part in Fencers attacking diabieties-which is a fencing tournament to raise money for diabetic research.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

Glad for you.  it's nice to hear that someone (lady from Admin at clinic) went out of her way to help you.  That's rare nowadays.
Hold onto your dreams ....

It sure is! Before my heart surgery I was on Metformin but the surgery made my blood sugar go way up then way down. It obviously needed more help.

Something that's cheap AND good for you?  What are the odds!

I'm mildly diabetic, so I only need to take pills rather than insulin.  But I know how expensive healthcare can be.  Between my heart and diabetes, I need various prescriptions, doctor appointments, and blood tests throughout the year.  Plus, my health insurance plan isn't as good this year as it was last year.  Suddenly, I'm getting bills for between $100 and $175 for blood tests that were covered 100% by my insurance plan last year.  Also, my wife had her thyroid removed a few years ago, so she has medical issues and prescriptions related to that.  Her blood tests are also no longer 100% covered.  Glad to hear you got some financial assistance for your insulin.  Stay healthy!

Congratulations! I have "The Sugar" myself so I know how expensive it can be. And make sure you stay friends with Tina!

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. Yes,health care is very expensive these days and since my job provides no benefits I pay cash for it all. Whew!
