Bill O'Reilly mentioned me on The Factor this morning

I know he has his detractors but I genuinely like the man ~ for many reasons, not the least of which is the fact that he reminds me of Dad: no nonsense, no BS people, both of them. I sent him an email to thank him for the program and the alternative viewing breath of fresh air that Fox News has brought to South Africa and that I enjoyed reading Pinheads and Patriots ~ he added that my country is a beautiful one and so it is.  :teddyr: Thank you sir, you are a Patriot.

No mention of my undies by Mr O' Reilly though: thank goodness.  :buggedout:

I kind of like Bill, haven't watched him in ages though.  My only problem with the guy is that even if you agree with him, he'll find some little thing you disagree on and run you down into the ground for it   :bouncegiggle:

So how did you get mentioned on his show?

That's why I will go  :buggedout: :buggedout: if I become famous and I hear those words "You have to come on The Factor".  :buggedout:

QuoteSo how did you get mentioned on his show?

There was a danger alert: Apparently my undies had escaped and were last seen heading for the Fox Building in New York.  :buggedout:

Actually, I sent him an email to thank him for the show ~ a breath of fresh air as far as broadcasting in SA goes and he mentioned the fact that this guy from South Africa had written to him. It was probably his first email from SA and he probably got as much of a shock getting it as I did hearing it at about 5h55 this morning. I have a copy of his book Pinheads and Patriots and would like to get a hold of Killing Lincoln next.

Just don't try to import those toxic things into the U.S. or O'Reilly will turn on you in a minute.

Why don't you send him a pair?

Trevor, I love you like an online brother but STEP AWAY FROM THE  FOX NEWS!

Anyway, one funny thing about Bill... From non-show interviews I have seen he actually seems more open minded (and pleasant) as aperson, than he is on his show.  I think there is an actual disconnect between person and persona.

I  noticed that, too, from listening to his radio program.  He had the same basic views, but he was much more personable and rational.  I think his TV show persona is a put-on.  It certainly works.

That's pretty cool that an email from a fan can get his personal attention and a mention on the show. No doubt Trevor is right that someone was impressed by the kudos coming from a fan halfway around the world. I'm sure Bill O'Reilly's fanbase is mostly in the United States. Fan mail from South Africa would be pretty special.

Fox News provides an alternative to the news services we have here and gives me a new window on the world, so unfortunately, I can't do that, sorry.

The same could be said about me: I am a different person at work than I am when I am at home or out somewhere, so yeah, there must be a disconnect there. At work, I am all business, no nonsense and when I am away from work, I am just me.

I don't know if his attitude on his show is a put on but I know that I quite willingly get up at 05h00 every morning to watch the show so there is something there.

When I went to order my copy of Pinheads and Patriots, the person helping me wasn't too clued up on who Bill O'Reilly is. Fox News has only recently come to SA courtesy Top TV and yes, both it and The Factor have hooked me good. The other shows on there such as Hannity, Huckabee and Fox and Friends are also good.  :teddyr:
