QuoteRev. Kenny Cousar of the Northview Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Ohio has apologized for his parishioners giving trick-or-treaters comic-book style pamphlets about fearing God.

The church had its members reward costumed children who rang their doorbells a pamphlet titled "Mean Momma" in which three children die, one by hanging himself.

The Reverend said that the church was "careless," since the pamphlet was inappropriate for small children. The Northview Baptist church's Facebook page indicates that 2,200 pamphlets were handed out to unsuspecting trick-or-treaters.

Good grief . . . . no wonder Christians have a bad name with so many Americans.  WHAT WAS THIS GUY THINKING??????

That looks like one of those IMO horribly scary Jack T Chick pamphlets that I was horrified to read as a child ~ the kind of thing that says "repent or die"!  :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:

That's exactly what it is.  You can read it here: http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1068/1068_01.asp

I chuckled several times, then felt bad when the little kid hanged himself.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Jack Chick is a bizarre man. A complete recluse, which explains how in touch he is with humanity. For me his tracts are like dark comedy. I can only wish that most people see them thus.

I read those things avidly as a kid and still remember some of them almost word for word.  As an adult Christian, I find that some of them are theologically solid and present a fairly mainstream Christian perspective; others are bizarrely warped and reflect a worldview from the extreme fringe of Protestant fundamentalism - particularly when he unloads on Catholicism and repeats some of the most extreme (and false) propaganda of the Reformation era.

Well, sorry, but I can't see a justification for any kind of defense of an organization that would publish this:
