most award shows. I've never understood them. like the oscars: The "best" movie is totally subjective. What if I hated the best movie?
Or even seen it? I don't care much for the Oscars these days because I've rarely seen all the films nominated...in fact some years I haven't seen any!
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.

Shows like EXTREME MAKEOVER, THE BIGGEST LOSER, etc. I sympathize with people going through hard times, but why air your private laundry in front of gaijin?
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

I've never watched Extreme Makeover, but I did catch an episode of The Biggest Loser once. It's not my cup of tea, but I can see how the show can be inspirational to some degree, at least moreso than most reality shows. I'm still not a fan of the show, but I have less of a problem with Biggest Loser than most other reality shows.
I don't always talk about bad movies, but when I do, I prefer badmovies.org

Big issue I have is the way it encourages pure poundage dropping, doesn't consider body fat percentage much, and encourages dehydration before weigh ins.  They do monitor them fairly frequently, but I expect with the large cash awards some day someone's going to have a cardiac episode.

I also think the way they kick people out is a bad idea if they want to actually help the morbidly obese.  The feeling of failure can't be good, even though apparently they still do try to help them out after they've left the show.

Still, there are worse reality shows, and a good chunk of the people on that show apparently do keep the weight off...  I gather it's something like 50% within the next year or two, which is actually really high.

I don't know much about the show. I just saw one episode and it seemed like it would be fairly inspirational, if a little exploitative.

I can't stand people who peddle fake stuff on EBay.
Last week I nearly bought a 4 1/2" Dovetail spearhead for $350 that the guy said came from his Dad's collection, found sometime between 1935 and 1985.  Turns out he bought the same point from a modern flintknapper less than a month ago, as a reproduction, for $22!  And when I reported the fraud to EBay, he simply moves the same piece over to Amazon and tries to sell it there - as being an estate sale find!

JERK!! :hatred:

I agree: that reminds me of the [expletive deleted] person who stole one of our archival films and is now peddling it as "a master" on Ebay. This so-called "master" was drawn from a VHS!  :hatred:

The same thing happens on eBay with traditional instruments. A decent wooden Irish flute that actually has proper intonation and playability cannot be bought realistically for less than $400, yet there are plenty of cheap knockoff flutes sold on eBay to naive people looking to get into the music for $200. I can't count the number of people I've come across who have bought one of those travesties and regretted it. Same thing with bagpipes. There are cheap Pakistani ripoffs sold for about half of what the real thing costs, people buy them, and they are utter crap.

I don't care for people who "politely" let me out at intersections.  This usually means they are coming down the road, slow down, and stop in the middle of the road to let me out.  Not only are they are blocking other traffic for my sake (which makes me feel like a jerk), it usually means I actually wait longer for them to slow down, stop, and wave me out than I would have waited for them to just drive on past in the first place.

Same goes for people who don't take the right-of-way at stops.  You are NOT being polite by just sitting there and waiting for me to go.  I'm sitting there waiting for YOU to go because you have the right of way.  I will end up waiting longer than if you had just gone when you were supposed to.

Things I personally don't care for:

Rap music
Reality tv shows
Flo from the Progressive commercials
Beer
Stuck up snobs
People who are mean for no reason
Seinfeld
Sean Penn
The remake of True Grit
NASCAR

Hey, I like  Flo, she's  cute.

I don't care  for the majority of the press, except  for  FOX  News and a  couple of  people  on radio.

I  don't care for people  claiming to care  while  using poor  people and pitting them against each other.

I don't  care  for  large  crowds  of  people and  I grew up and live  in NYC  all my life.

I don't  care  for  close  talkers, unless  they're  cute and wash and  brush every day. :twirl:

I don't  care  for  cable and  now  have a roof  antenna and watch TV  for  'free', like it was  meant to be.
