Movie genres that just don't work!

Some genres seem to have a disproportionately large number of bad films.  Case in point: Dinosaurs-in-Space movies.  This genre includes Planet of Dinosaurs, Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet, and King Dinosaur, none of which considered good.  What are some other genres that just don't work?

The next episode of Doctor Who has a slight variation that premise - dinosaurs on a space ship. The trailer features The Doctor excitedly exclaiming "DINOSAURS ON A SPACESHIP!!!".

Movies that try to cash in on nostalgia, especially if it's tv characters - FAT ALBERT, THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE, ARCHIE: RETURN TO RIVERDALE, THE HONEYMOONERS, the CG YOGI BEAR, SMURFS, GARFIELD & MARMADUKE movies.

Movies that try to cash in on nostalgia, especially if it's tv characters - FAT ALBERT, THE BRADY BUNCH MOVIE, ARCHIE: RETURN TO RIVERDALE, THE HONEYMOONERS, the CG YOGI BEAR, SMURFS, GARFIELD & MARMADUKE movies. 

I was just about to mention a slightly more specific category that seems to fall in line with most of these (I actually like the Brady Bunch Movies).  Mine was animated shows from our childhood turned into live action/CGI movies for our kids's childhood (wherein they don't give our kids enough credit to assume they can sit through a movie WITHOUT fart jokes).  They just don't capture the spirit of the originals...

Musicals. All of them.

I agree, or, at least, that I agree that of all the movie generas out there, movie musicals are probably my least favorite.

As much as I love them, teen slasher in the woods movies (my made up sub genre of slasher movies) haven't changed since the first Friday the 13th. Most of them are really bad. Hell, I started writing one and never finished it. I think it is the most used storyline in the horror genre, if not in motion picture history. There are a ton that get released every year. I think the zombie genre is catching up though. John Carpenter said in an interview that he thought there were too many Zombie movies and how many times is Hollywood gonna keep ripping off George Romero.

Nothing In Common
Forbidden Zone
and to a lesser extent:
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Though its "appeal" is more for its songs, but since I am not a fan of musicals I found nothing particularly to enjoy about this movie.

I had also written down quite a lot about a genre I call "Idea Movie". Pretty good stuff I thought but I did the following:

1. I copied all the text so that I wouldn't lose it.
2. I went to verify that the poster was indeed from Bingo.
3. I got the link and posted this reply.
4. I decided that instead of having to replies to the same topic I would put both in this one so I hit Modify and right-click/pasted.
5. The imdb link appeared.
6. Alcohol.

Well, the culmination of Idea Film was going to be Rubber (2010), which is set entirely (pun?) around the concept of "no reason". It's pretty funny at first but after about fifteen minutes the joke begins to wear. It wasn't a rental I finished.

Horror comedies.  Out of all the ones I've seen, there have been a small handful that actually worked, but most are just the type of junk you sit through and have completely forgotten about by the time you put the DVD back in its box.

Are you talking horror satires (e.g. SHAUN OF THE DEAD, TUCKER & DALE, ZOMBIELAND), or the wink-wink meta-horror movies like SCREAM?  'Cause if it's the latter I totally agree.
