It was late 80's early 90's if my memory serves me justice.  I remember bits and pieces and not in any particular order but here's the best I can do.

A group of friends drive up somewhere to what I believe is to support a friend who had recieved some land inheritence.  They arrive to find some ruins of an old house located in a clearing of a forrest.  After parking and some light exploring of the property they realize the cars aren't working.  They try to walk to the nearest main road and a fog rolls in and brings them back to the ruins several times.  They begin to argue and try to figure things out as it starts to get dark.

This is when some one realizes that the house can be entered through the front door which is an entry into a parallel universe or alternate dimension.  The house is in ruins in the original world and built up and boarded up in the alternate dimension.  They didn't want to enter the house but as darkness comes closer and danger seems near they enter into the house for safety.  They search the house and find a religous book of sorts.  As they read they learn the history of the house and about the former inhabitants meanwhile they are attacked by demons.  There is a barn and a story about a pastor of a town who battled the demons described in this book.  Or made sacrifices to them.  They find 3 dagger keys that can kill the demons but need 7 in order to form the 'super' weapon to destroy the head demon or devil.  Who is coming soon to kill them all.  I don't remember how it ends but some friends are definitely killed.

I was young and scared out of my mind when I saw this film.  Hopefully someone can help me find the title.  It's definitely not the Evil Dead alot of people have told me it's sounds similar to it and it fits the time line but it's not that one.
