On this date, August 28th, 1993, the premiere episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers debuted on Fox.  20 years later, we're halfway through it's twentieth season, Power Rangers Megaforce.

Megaforce will end at sometime next year with all former rangers returning (well, not all.  Mostly, it's all Japanese footage using their costumes, but we'll get cameos throughout the season of them not in costume.)  But the end of this video shows what it's all been leading to.  As a fan, seeing all the costumes together made me happy.  I realize it's stunt actors in the suits, but still.

We used to watch this show stoned after a long night of drinking right after I graduated from high school back in the day. 

Watching it stoned was definitely a profound experience, as the original post explained, blending Bruce Lee with Godzilla-style destruction and outrageous enemies and horrific acting. I can't believe that it's been on 20 years already! My little nephew used to watch it when he was 5 years old. I should remind him at 25 years old now of those days when he used to run around the house karate-kicking the air in his Power Rangers underwear.

I'm really kinda shocked it lasted, and I was a huge fan of it back then.  Figured it'd get three-four seasons, tops.

Wow...they are still doing this?
I used to love the first version as a kid (including the Movie with Ivan Ooze), but lost interest quickly afterwards.
Only caught glimpses here and there of the other shows...

Yeah.  It's still on.

They've even brought in Jason Frank as Tommy for this season.  He's older now, late 30's or so, but still hopping around.
