It's about time this distinguished actor was celebrated for his body of work....not for his A-list pictures like THE OX-BOW INCIDENT or THE GRAPES OF WRATH, not even for such late-night staples as HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN or BLUEBEARD, but such MOVIE 5-worthy flicks as....

Add your own faves, if you will.
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

For my money, he made every film he appeared in, from his best to his worst, just a little bit better.

I thought he had a good radio voice.
There's this scene in the Petrified World where he's explaining why his bathysphere didn't work, & his voice really seems to dominate the microphones.

I just watched The Black Sleep again yesterday and he's one of the small highlights in that film.  Spices it up near that chaotic ending.  Rest in peace, Long John!

I was always happy to see him in a movie and consider him a horror movie actor icon but admittedly there's many films even he couldn't really help all that much.

Yeah. He had the seasoned pro attitude to his own role, like Cushing and Lee. Even if everyone else gets hammy, he stays kosher...so to speak.

Actually, in their own ways, all three of them could chew the scenery with the best.

True, but they did it with such style...ya just didn't mind.

JOHN CARRADINE may be the most memorable character in STAGECOACH (1939) which is high praise; it's a great movie.   Of course, he's more typically the villain in JESSE JAMES (1939) another great performance.

It's JOHN CARRADINE's voice as the Tramp in THE MOUSE AND HIS CHILD (1977)

My point exactly. 4-X, what's more fun than watching Vincent Price turn into Turbo-Vincent in some of his films?

I'd forgotten that one....of course, Bela Lugosi and George Zucco added to the mix.
