Father son alien movie from 80s

I'm trying to remember this movie from my childhood.  I don't remember much about it, just glimpses.  Only that it was about a woman and her son and it ended with some sort of a twist that his father was an alien and returned to get him.  I think there was something about tops (as in the spinning toy tops) and the spacecraft also looking like a spinning top.  Also I remember the title was difficult to pronounce with either X's or Z's in it, I think it was a one word title.

You guys are friggin awesome!  That's exactly what it is.  I remember that toy soldier scene.  But no wonder I forgot most of it!  That trailer looked crazy gruesome!  I need to get me a copy and watch this again.  Thank you so much!
