Is anybody else getting annoying redirects to http://aperture.displaymarketplace.com/ every now and then? They are only occurring for me on badmovies.com, and they happen intermittently when I click some link. I haven't spotted a pattern to them yet. Curious as to whether others are experiencing this annoyance.

This issue started for me yesterday. I get the re-direct only with this site. Takes me to the same displaymarketplace.com

Looks like a link you both followed had some malware, probably me too but this browser is setup like a secret agent's browser  BounceGiggle

Try a full scan with this - also you may want to go through your plugins/addons on your browser to see if there is anything out of place there (you may discover s**t you simply don't need in the process anyway)

It's possible, I suppose, but Norton doesn't detect any problems, and why would the spyware be specific to badmovies.org? I'm guessing it's related to an unscrupulous ad in the sidebar here.

Not getting anything on my end.  What site did you type in? [ie does it come up on a certain part of the site like the homepage rather than the forums etc]

Side note, One of my side bar ads is telling me 'change your life' so off I go, better do as it says...

Only happens on the forums and it happens in two ways. Sometimes when I click a topic it takes me to that page instead, and at least once I left a tab open and unattended and returned to the tab to discover it had navigated to the spam page on its own.

This is in Firefox, btw, haven't tried other browsers.

I've encountered this twice already today, first on a PC (using Firefox) and again on the browser on my cell phone...

I run Linux Mint so the chances of me getting infected with malware directed at Windows boxes are pretty slim. This only happens on this site. I will check to see if Chrome has the same issue.

Sorry to have missed this until now.  I have not experienced this redirect, but did find this page about the issue:

http://blog.mitechmate.com/remove-displaymarketplace-com-redirect-virus-removal-guide/

According to the page, it's malware that is resident on the computer.  Since it is happening at times when you click a link, something resident on the computer is the most likely culprit.  The link above also includes removal instructions.

If there is another way for the redirect to happen, it could be via a misbehaving ad. I haven't encountered this redirect myself, but only two advertising networks are used for the forums.  I'm not going to be able to access their interfaces for a while to check either one, unfortunately.

If you are comfortable with minor system tweaking, I would also suggest adding the following line to your Windows hosts file (this will make it unable to load the site) and then rebooting:

127.0.0.1     http://aperture.displaymarketplace.com/

The hosts file is normally located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and can be opened with Notepad.

I do think it's from an ad and not malware installed on my computer. First, the fact that it's badmovies.org specific. Second, neither Norton nor Spybot finds any malware on my computer. Third, based on the page Andrew listed, the suspect process isn't running and there are no extensions or suspicious recently installed programs on my computer.

It's an annoyance, not a huge problem, but I wanted to see if it was affecting others and let Andrew know about it.

My browsers don't load the <!-- Skyscaper --> bit to the side if that's what you are referring to, I believe adblock+ is killing it on here and noscript on the other.

I haven't been able to replicate the problem in Chrome. I also haven't had the re-direct happen on Firefox in the last 24 hours. Just a note, the redirect happened without even clicking anything on the site.

I put some filters in place on the ad networks that supply ads to the forum.  Since I couldn't identify the rogue ad myself, I made guesses.  Perhaps the filters worked, or perhaps the ad network identified the rogue ad.  From what I found, it was affecting quite a few forums that use the same network.
