It's a really schlocky movie that was theatrically released in 1981,and depicted a tentacled mutant being that lived under the sandy beach shores, and dragged its victims down under(and through) the sands. The director and writer was Jeffrey Bloom, who also made 1983's "Nightmares" and 1987's extremely ill-fated "Flowers In The Attic",and John Saxon,Burt Young, and Marianna Hull were the stars, and the lead actor(whose name I can't remember, but he was in Clint Eastwood's "Firefox") was tragically knifed to death after the completion of  that Eastwood film(his name was either Robert or David Huffman),and it enjoyed a wide Media Home Entertainment video release in the 80s,but is now extremely hard to find,as are most independent video label released 70s/80s/early 90s classics. The ending was left open for a sequel(like many other 80s movies,as well as Fred Olen Ray's early efforts),which[of course]never materialized. Still love its theatrical poster,of a bikini clad babe being sucked under the sands, though(now, that one's a real keeper!).

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, you can't get to it.

The IMDB, use it, know it, live it.

Thanks for reminding me about that,John. I'll consult the IMDB the next time I'm drunk, and can't remember any actor or film I'm writing about.

john

Umm, why are you posting messages while drunk? :)

Steven Millan

It's just too cool a movie title to pass up,whether sober or not, otherwise I'm pretty much sober(like I am right now).

john

What? The movie itself isn't cool? :)
