. . . Afrikaans is a wonderfully expressive language - so much so that I can swear at someone in Afrikaans and they'll think they're being complimented.

Charlize Theron can swear at me in Afrikaans all she wants. That woman is a GODDESS!   :hot:

Good job, buddy! I aint had a drivers liscence. since 1985.
I have drove cars-and owned them. But after my 2nd offence of drunk driving in 1984-I have never had a legal liscence.
I swore as long as I drink- wont drive-and I dont. I almost killed 3 people. I dont drive.

Thanks BrotherR

A nice pick up or "bakkie" [bah-kee] as we call it here: virtually new.
Congratulations on your (almost) new vehicle. And I just learned a bit of South African slang.

Great and welcome to the site.  :teddyr:

We wouldn't have Star "Trek" without it.

But in a good way.

I actually now own a car for the first time in two years since my last one died on me. The finance was approved today and the car will be dropped off - hopefully not on my head  :buggedout: - here at work tomorrow.

This is it: www.mccarthypreowned.co.za/preowned-2011-fiat-strada-gauteng-pretoria/140491/for-sale.html

I am smiling now.  :teddyr: :teddyr:

I absentmindedly clicked on this link earlier in the week, saw the car was no longer available and went "WTF? WTF happened to the car I bought?"

Then I remembered that I had bought it.......  :twirl: :tongueout:  :teddyr: :teddyr:

I learned how to drive in '74, but I get so nervous behind the wheel, I'm a menace.
Oddly, I can ride a bicycle through almost any traffic (and have.)
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

As someone with...really...hundreds of thousand of miles under my seat cushion, (165.0000 on the van I just had replaced) I find paranoia a good driving habit.

Expect the other guy to be a blithering idiot, and you can avoid a lot of trouble.

Driving can be exciting.  Like suddenly having a full sized La-Z-Boy loom out of the darkness ahead of you at 1:00AM.  WHAT is that doing in the middle of the road?  Also fun in the road:  brake calipers hitting your windshield at 60mph, a large roll of insulation, and ladders.  I never can get enough ladders in the road.

Oh my, why are you feeling worried about driving?
