South Africa's first Afrikaans language western: the title translates as either By Sundown / Before Sundown.

Quite a hit in its' first release, this film tells the story of a small town in South Africa which is held to ransom by a bunch of thugs just after the conclusion of the Anglo Boer War in 1902.

These thugs - loyal to the British powers in charge of South Africa at the time - get their collective rear ends handed to them by a local hothead and a drifter, who when not fighting the British or punching the crap out of each other  :buggedout: , vie for the fair hand of their mutual lovely lady friend.

I loved the ending of this where the young hothead rides away into the sunset, leaving his friend / love rival to smooch his lady friend.  :teddyr:

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
