A Des Moines woman is facing attempted murder charges Sunday after she police said she set her boyfriend on fire.

Police were called to the 1900 block of East Walnut Street around 7 p.m. Saturday on reports that man had lit himself on fire.

When officers arrived, they found the victim burned from head to toe, yelling that his girlfriend set him on fire.

Amy Thornton, 47, faces charges of willful injury and attempted murder.
