Hi everyone.

I'm looking for an old Kung Fu film, in which in which the protagonist fights with a short hollow staff (about 1m in length) which has spring-loaded tricks in it; A spearhead pops out of one end and a dart shoots out the other. He has to beat three "Kung Fu masters" for some reason. The masters all have wire-fu abilities (flying, causing things to shatter by hitting the air, that sort of thing.) But the protagonist doesn't. He might also be traveling with a child, not so sure about that though.

Hope you guys can help, I've been looking for it in fits for a long time now.

Sorry if it's already been solved, I searched the forum but couldn't find it.

This sounds really familiar, although a lot of old kungfu movies have those characteristics.

When you say, 'old kungfu movie', I assume you're talking about a period-style Shaw Brothers movie?  Is that the time period of production, like 70's/80's?  Or is it a newer one, like in the 90's?

If it's an older style movie, try titles like Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu, and Shaolin Challenges Ninja.  They have a lot of trick weapons, but not quite the plot you describe.

I'm pretty positive this is Thousand Mile Escort.

Sounds a bit like Shogun Assassin (which apparently is a mash together of several of the Babycart movies)

Shogun Assassin?

It's probably either that or the film I suggested, Thousand Mile Escort, which is actually partly a ripoff of it.  Thousand Mile Escort is closer to his description (the three masters with wire fu abilities, the lead doesn't have any, the lead's weapon), but they're pretty similar in other ways.

I'm almost positive it wasn't Shogun Assassin. The look of it was very Chinese. And by old I mean 70's, possibly early 80's.

I'll have to check out Thousand Mile Escort, it sounds promising.

Thanks guys.

Yep, definitely Thousand Miles Escort. Thanks a bunch.

Wow, I hadn't heard of Thousand Miles Escort.  I'll have to check that out.  This is something I love about old ol' Badmovies.org.  I learn about cool movies I've never seen before.

You're in luck!

There doesn't appear to be a legitimate release of it anywhere, so I can't say I feel bad about linking to a version on YouTube.  It's PROBABLY in the public domain (mid 70s Taiwanese release, few bothered with US copyright registration in those days and I doubt they restored them).
