think I put off seeing this for so long because of how much hype it's generated... it seems to have overtaken Plan 9 as the badmovie to end them all.

my verdict is, it IS as bad as I expected, but I didn't have as much fun as I expected. I mean, it is catastrophically rubbish in a way that almost defies belief (in places), but something about it is unpleasant and grating - compared to something like for example STARCRASH which is both horrendously bad and deliriously fun at the same time

now that Ive seen it and can cross it off the list, I don't think I'll ever watch Troll 2 again.

There are zero trolls in this movie. For a movie called Troll 2, it doesn't get any better/worse than that.

maybe they should've called it Troll 0

mind you, if they were trolls, the town would've had to be called 'LLORT', which doesn't trip off the tongue quite like Nilbog. (there probably is a town in Wales called 'LLort' though)

They should have actually called it ROVERT

I thought it was hilarious the first time I saw it, but it doesn't stay as enjoyable on repeat viewings as Plan 9 does. Ed Wood, for all his strange perversities, made some very innocently charming (and very bad) movies. Troll 2 has its moments, but the super hammy overacting of the goblin queen detracts from the more genuinely horrible (and enjoyable) performances from, oh, say, everyone else in the movie.

good point. the queeny is obviously hamming it up on purpose, so that almost doesnt count.

the mother was my favourite though. never seen any actor deliver lines worse than her (maybe as bad, but not worse) and that cant have been deliberate!

Go watch Best/Worst Movie.  Margo Prey who played the mom is a real-life nutcase.

By the way, if you haven't seen or listened to it yet, check out my interview with George Hardy. (he played the dad in the movie and I did the phone interview)

Honestly, I feel the same way.  I just didn't get into this film, and have no real desire to watch it again.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

hah, glad to know it isn't just me... I could imagine dissing Troll 2 in any way is enough to get excluded from certain bad movie circles!
