Alicia Vikander (Ava from Ex Machina ) stars as Lara in a reboot of the film series that being based on the critically acclaimed reboot of the game series.  Rumor was that Daisy Ridley (Rey from SW:TFA) was in lead for the role, and I think I would have liked to see her.  Rey was very Lara Croft-esque so I thought she would have done a good job.

Alicia looks good in character, but we'll just have to wait and see.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

What was wrong with the old one?

It was Tomb Raider's turn in the remake list.  :teddyr:

Her "equipment" is awfully small to be Lara Croft.

They rebooted the games  a while back.  New Lara is less bustier, generally less glamorous, and more covered in dirt and blood.

I'm not a fan myself.

I believe it was filmed in South Africa: not sure, but I hear that it was.

I saw the sequel over the weekend - Cradle of Life? - I couldn't take more than five minutes of Angelina Jolie's "British" accent and pumped up lips.  :buggedout:

I'm quite fond of the Game-Reboots...I loved the old Lara Croft, but the new one just fits perfectly into today's time. They made a good choice changing the character to be able to compete with characters like Nathan Drake. Also she might not be as busty as before, but she still is stunningly beautiful and honestly looks more "real" if you know what I mean.
As for the movie...it will be interesting to see what they will do with the material. I hope the movie will be darker and more serious than the rather silly, but still enjoyable Jolie-movies.
