I purposely keep my FB silly and completely free of politics, religion, etc., etc. If you wanna see lotsa nerdy posts about movies (good AND bad), comic books, and heavy metal music, feel free to look me up. :D

Politics is toxic. Good people turn nasty when talking about it. Rational people turn insane. Friends become enemies. We've seen it happen here. Andrew's "no politics" rule was a good one for these boards.
I'm with the Rev. on this one. It's just too hard to risk these days...and it wern't so good in them days!

I didn't know where else to put this on this board, but since this thread does deal with the subject of politics, and since I found this interesting, I thought I'd post it here.

It's getting crowded out there.

All of these have either . . .
(a) had their names put forward for President in 2020.
(b) are testing the waters for a run for President in 2020.
(c) or are known to be thinking of running for President in 2020.

CEO Bob Iger
actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
ex VP Joe Biden
businessman Mark Cuban
TV star Oprah Winfrey

The good news or the bad news is that Trump is so toxic today, that if the election was held tomorrow, even Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would defeat Trump in the election.

I honestly wouldnt be surprised if the Rock won. People seem to be excited about it. Im already seeing memes about it.  Dont forget about kanye west! Kim believes in him,  thats enough for me!

I will cautiouslytalk about politics on Facebook, mostly because the people that know me well either agree with me or are civil in their disagreement. I made the mistake of responding to someone's post who has absolutely no sense of humor at all about politics (which I unfortunately forgot). I got lambasted several times over. I remained civil and still got called names. I will never respond to that person's posts again. The really stupid part is that up until this last election, this person was a staunch Republican. Now, if you dare to even mildly disagree with the Democrat philosophy, you are an obvious idiot who should not be allowed to vote or even express an opinion ever. I came across a psychological study that demonstrated that those on the Left are just as prejudiced as those on the Right, just toward different things. I posted a link and wasn't surprised that I got no feedback. It was even on Politico, a fairly Left-leaning source.

Both the Left and the Right, as far as politicians go, are corrupt, money-hungry, sell-out weasels. They both screw the working class fairly equally while furthering the interests of corporations at the expense of the taxpayers.

The only real difference that I have found between them is that the Left will screw you over but tell you it is for your own good; the Right just screws you over because it benefits them.

Unfortunately, those who lean hard one way or another tend to be unable to see beyond the dogma of their camp of their choice.

As a result, I always vote for Flesh Gordon. (Only partially joking)
I feel more like I do now than I did a while ago.

I believe that both dems/repubs are 2 sides of the same coin. They make deals behind closed doors. Theyre members of the same clubs. They go to the same resturants, schools, brothels etc. Its just theatre. We buy into it and fight over whos team is better. though, in recent years ive begun to have a slight preference for one party over the other because of certain "issues". I dont want to start an political arguement, but how does a Rock/Tom Hanks ticket sound? It looks as though its going to be a real thing. I find it funny and disturbing at the same time. Nothing against those two guys, I dont even know there views. Admittedly, im biased against celebrities and self important bs (Im well aware of the current president and where he came from). Listed below is something that is headlining on a news site:

This weekend's Saturday Night Live season finale inducted Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson into the Five Timers' Club — and the host used the occasion to "officially announce" his 2020 presidential bid. As for his choice in running mate? None other than Tom Hanks.

Hanks then joined Johnson and fellow club member Alec Baldwin on stage to graciously accept his offer.

"I can... not possibly turn this down. I'll do it," Hanks said enthusiastically. "I'm in! Let's go!"

Johnson then explained his decision to run for the highest office in the land.

"Now, in the past, I would have never considered running for president," he began. "I didn't think I was qualified at all, but now I'm actually worried that I'm too qualified."

"The truth is [that] America needs us," Hanks said.  "No one can seem to agree on anything anymore, except for two things," to which Johnson interrupted to clarify that those two things are "pizza and us."

"I mean, I have been in two movies where the plane crashes, and people are still excited to see me on their flight," Hanks continued. "Together, we would get one hundred percent of the vote. I would get the senior vote because I fought in World War II... in like, ten different movies."

"And of course, I would get the minority vote, because everyone just assumes that I'm, well, whatever they are," Johnson said.

This thread reminded me of something that happened to me and a  few of my friends back in 2008. A few friends and I were supporting Obama, while others were backing Romney. Things were kept civil for the part. Then after Obama won one friend deleted all of us from her friends list that were backing him. A while late she sent friend requests to the whole bunch of us.
