Anyone know anything about DVD-Rs?

So, this is weird... I did a "move" and sent a bunch of videos to a DVD-R today intending to burn them as backup.  When I got done, I realized I "moved" all the files instead of copying them and I was like, "Wait, I still wanted to keep my copy of these on the computer", so, without thinking, I selected "undo move" rather than copy and pasting.  Well, it moved all the files back to the computer.

Now, here's the prob... I look on my DVD-R and it shows NO files there, BUT it says I only have 335 mb of space left (as in, how much space I would have left had the files been copied.)

So, apparently, the files WERE copied, but they just seem to be invisible or something.  Does anyone know if I can fix this or should I just trash the DVD-R and try again?

You might be ahead to trash the disc, especially if you have plenty of others.

What may have happened is that the disc has that space marked for those files, in which case, you will definitely need to start over.

And just a recommendation: Make sure you use DVD-R discs instead of DVD+R discs. While I'm not clear on the difference, DVD+R discs have always caused me nothing but trouble and heartache.

If you don't have a program already on your computer for burning DVDs, you should be able to find a legit free program at C-Net that you can be sure is clean of malware and Trojan Horses. Such a program is a great thing.

Yeah, they're DVD-R.  Thinking maybe it got confused with the whole "moving them back" at the last minute thing...  Ahh, well, it was a pack of a eight I got for $2, so no biggie. 

Hmm.. just realized something... I was gonna give ya Karma Jak, but I see you've got nearly TWICE as much Karma as I do even though we have nearly the same amount of posts.  So, now, I'm all like petty jealous and stuff.

It's been a while since I've burned anything to an optical disk.  I mainly use USB drives now.  I also use some of the online storage like Dropbox.  Like my law school stuff - I back that up on line so I don't wind up in a situation where I'm putting finishing touches on a 7,500 word paper and my MacBook decides it's time to be a douche. 

At one place I worked at we were burning routine reports to DVD-Rs for a while.  We eventually switched over to using USB sticks because it didn't take as long to write the files, and the drives were more efficient in using space.  We didn't need to keep the reports for too long so once they filled up we were able to delete old files. 

As others have said, if you really need DVDs to burn they're literally a dime a dozen these days.

Well, my main concern was less about the DVD-R and I was more curious about what happened and why. But yeah, normally I'd just use Flash Drives as well, but I just had some extra DVD-Rs lying around and figured, what the hey.
