I know it's not as popular as the movie thread, but I still like to keep track of what I am reading and this is as good a place as any!
Join me if you like, otherwise check in occasionally if you want to see how I spend my time when I am not teaching, watching bad movies, or working.

I read a total of 58 books in 2016.
That dropped to 47 books in 2017.

I finally started STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND by Robert Heinlen. I've owned the book for over 20 years-I bought a first edition at Goodwill-but never read it. I've read all Heinlan's other books-but stopped from reading this because it was Charlie Manson's favorite. That kinda gave me the creeps. But he's dead-so I started it.
Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

I bought four books today (with my $25 gift card and $5 off coupon, my out of pocket was $2.08!).
One was on the lives of the first twelve Caesars, one a history of the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485, one a survey of the worst tyrants in European history, and the last was a Dilbert collection that I didn't already have.

I finished Stranger in A Strange Land. Damn-that makes one think. Try it. Boy-Charlie twisted that one!

I'm re-reading (I do it all the time) Charles Fort's WILD TALENTS. I love Charles Fort.
If your not familiar with Fort-he writes about our strange world-but with a sardonic twist. He makes no assumptions-but he will make you think. And WILD TALENTS is his most underrated-and best! books.

Charles Fort documented some awfully weird stuff.
Right now I am in the middle of two different books; a biography of Caligula and THE GREAT BIG BOOK OF HORRIBLE THINGS, which is one of the most fascinating reference books of all time.
OK, guys, let's list our tallies by  month, just like in the movie thread!
Add em as you finish them!

The Burgomaster

I don't read nearly as much as I should. I spent most of 2017 reading David Copperfield (and I'm still reading it). When I was a kid/teenager, I would read every day. Now, I'm lucky if I get through 10 - 30 pages/week. It took me more than a year to read Les Miserables (and I had to rally and read a lot more than I usually do in order to get through the final 500 pages in a reasonable amount of time). It took me almost a year to read Little Women.

But I read about 1 comic book per day. Most recently:

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

I actually liked the John Carter movie and hoped they would make more.

It wasn't bad; just too expensive.
