Otto Kruger is a mad scientist (is there any other kind?) who has his brutish assistant Rondo Hatton steal the body of Paula Dupree, the Ape Woman, from the city morgue so he can bring her back to life. He does-but she's brain dead . Kinda like this movie. So he kidnaps a pretty girl to put her brain into the ape woman. Rondo has the hots for the gal, and trys to stop him.
Otto shoots the poor dope, and Paula wakes up-strangles the Doc, and is shot by a cop. The End.

This was the 3rd in the Universal series of Paula the Ape Woman, after CAPTIVE WILD WOMAN (1943) with John Carradine and JUNGLE WOMAN (1944) with J.Carroll Naish. Both starred the beautiful Acquanetta. She didn't come back for the 3rd in the series-being the Ape Woman did nothing but lie on a table until the last 5 minutes of the movie.
The only redeeming feature of this was the presence of Rondo Hatton, who makes every scene just buy standing around looking creepy. So unless your a Rondo fan-pass this one up.

JUNGLE WOMAN starred J.Carrol Naish, not Tamiroff.
