Roseanne reboot cancelled after racist twitter rant

"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," ABC said. The cancellation comes just months after the show premiered to huge ratings.

Barr had earlier apologized and said she was "now leaving Twitter."

Following Barr's Twitter rant, one of the show's consulting producers, Wanda Sykes, said she's done with the show. "I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC," Sykes tweeted.

Well Roseanne, you made that bed now lie in the f**king thing. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for her.

I didn't especially like the original series either way, but Roseanne herself was part of the reason I refused to watch it.

If it hadn't been for the other cast members - especially John Goodman - the show never would have gotten as far as it did.

I had watched a couple of episodes of the new series and liked it OK.
But if you don't know that it is inappropriate to call/compare black people "apes" or "monkeys," you have NO place in public life in America.

Naturally some people are calling roseanne's cancellation an act of 'liberal fascism and intolerance'. Oddly mane of these people are the same one shwo wanted the dixiie chicks destroyed after speaking against DUUHbya, and kathy griffith destroyed after her bit with the trump mask.

I don't think it's right. ever since Howard Stern went of the regular airwaves people have gotten way too sensitive. She apologized. Our culture has lost the ability to show mercy to people.

Your right- Roseanne has the freedom to spout any bulls**t she wants. ABC also has the right not to sponsor her.
And condemning racism is not being "too sensitive" or PC. It's being a human being.

(Just for the record- Howard Stern was a piece of s**t anyway.)

the point was the show had high ratings and was popular. She made a bad joke about someones appearance and apologized for it.

We have people in the media who supported the iraq war and are pushing for one with iran. I'm offended by that

also I just read a tweet that said roseanne apparently didn't know valerie jarret was black?? thats actually not hard to believe but not sure if its true

See, for one thing, ABC hired Roseanne. Roseanne said some crazy s**t ABC didn't like. They NO LONGER WANT TO PAY HER /EMPLOY HER.
They fired her.
Now- the "people" who like the show have say so who ABC chooses to employ? People who don't pay the bills for 'ROSEANNE'?
What kinda s**t is that?

And frankly, if ABC decided not to associate with a racist- well- then GOD bless them.

the viewers do pay the bills for roseanne. the advertisers pay to reach them and if a show is popular you get more money from advertisers.

now they found some other racist tweet of hers from 1850 ugh I'm done whatever I'm done defending her

When I heard about this, I remembered what she did when she sang the American national anthem in 1990, spat, screeched, grabbed her crotch etc: horrible person. If anyone did that to the South African national anthem at a stadium, they would be taken around the back and have the seven colours of sh*t kicked out of them.
