I was in rehab in 2007, and part of our rehabbing s**t was Yoga.
I thought it was pointless. It did nothing for me. (Maybe if I was high it would.  :tongueout:)
Anyway- do any of you folks do Yoga?

My very special sister's mom teaches yoga: she's nearly seventy and looks like she's forty. Guess it works for her.

Me: if I did a "downward dog" my dog would stay on the ground.

I never did Yoga but I did some pretty decent stretching exercises for my martial arts classes that got me pretty darn limber back in the day.
I did see this show all the time back in the 70s on PBS:
LILIAS, YOGA AND YOU
! No longer available
I dunno why but that symbol in the background creeped me out when I was a kid-- looked like a cult symbol or something!
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

It is creepy.
I watched the show just to see the pretty girls.
If I'm even thinking of the same show. there was a lot of this New Age stuff on TV in the 70's.
Hippies and weird occult s**t going on TV and movies. I thought it was great.

After I heard some rabid christian fanatic condemn it as satanic I thought about trying it.

It's not Satanic.  But we had to do it in rehab. I hated it. It was painful and boring at the same time. I see enough of that in movies.
After that s**t I would have drank some one's blood if whiskey ran in they're veins.  :drink:

Don't get me wrong! I don't think there is anything wrong with it at all. It's an ancient form of meditation.
It's just not for me. It doesn't relax me.
What I'm trying to say is-I was in rehab and I HAD to do this s**t for the courthouse. And It was yoga, the 12 STEPS! , and all this talk of higher powers. I have always been an atheist. (as a grown up, ya know. As a little kid, God had me scared stiff) so I get court ordered into the Church of AA.
I was not happy.  Those people are f**king crazy.
Not because they believe in God. Oh Hell no. It's where the deluded meet the depraved. It's a cult. They made a cult of booze. Because most of them are lying when the say "I have been sober for 30 years!" Yet his red apple checks and nose, and you can smell beer on him, and he's been sober for 13 years. Gimme a break.
Lots people who are members of AA are not there because they wan't to be. They court order you.
The rest treat it like Church.

I also had some woman tell me it was satanic, and that you are opening your mind and spirit to demonic influences when you do it.

I wasn't sure if she was trying to put me off yoga or encourage me.

When I was in college, I wore a lot of black - still do - and I liked horror movies (still do) and liked reading horror novels. People there called me the Satanist even though I was a church goer (still am) and I didn't puke on the priest when he tried to baptize me. This continued when friends at church said I shouldn't listen to the music of the Moody Blues as they believed in eastern religions.

I feel you there Brother Trevor. Other than the church going part I've been in that situation too. Not been accused of it for a while. Perhaps I am losing my devilish charm?

In 1987 - when I went here www.tut.ac.za - there were a number of groups and books about "satanic rock music" and movies, so anyone who wore black was automatically one of them. I was nearly thrown out of my digs there for having pornography on my cupboard door. This was what was on the door:

South Africa was a strange place back then.

Yoga saved the lives of Jake Roberts and Scott Hall, both drug addicts who had time in the WWF.

DDP Yoga.  I got the set of DVD's to try out.  I think you'd like DDP's style of yoga.  It's broader than just...that 'pansy' stuff.

Yoga's cool-- you can levitate, shoot flame and do all kinds of groovy s**t!
