Why do some peolle think taking an excellent animated series and doing it live action will be an improvement?  Why can't they just do it to a higher level of animation?

Let's consider a major factor in why so many live action adaptations of anime fail and why this wouldn't apply to Cowboy Bebop. I'm thinking of the designs for the characters, their costumes, and their gear which look fine on the manga page or in animation. But translate these aspects to live action and they almost invariably look ridiculous. However, in Cowboy Bebop, the characters have reasonably normal builds and hair styles, wear mostly ordinary clothes, and fight with real world firearms instead of comically oversized blades. That's not to say that this new series still couldn't go horribly wrong. But if it does, it's more likely to be due to poor scripting choices which can happen in any medium.
