Originally known as Colpi Di Luce, aka Light Blast in English speaking countries, this movie stars Erik Estrada only two years after the long running TV show C.H.I.P.S. The poster for this movie hung in the video shop that we frequented when I was but a wee lad. Today marks the first time I've seen the trailer. Wow. Just wow.

The sci-fi elements are really just window dressing but it's a fun cop romp with the inevitable (although well-staged) post "Bullitt" undulating car chase.
The best thing about the movie is definitely Enio Girolami's turn as the Russian nutcase who's behind the whole plot.

Blackmail laser for the city of San Francisco. California. Some criminals are threatening to reduce it to a heap of glowing embers unless they are given a huge sum. The authorities did not give up and investigations are handled by Ron, a skilled inspector with a reputation for hard (like the 'Dirty Harry' cop interpreted to asbestos years ago by Clint Eastwood)
