A thread where I try to keep track of new additions to IMDb's Bottom 1000. In order to be included a movie must receive at least 10,000 votes according to IMDb rules. The last 10 arrivals:

The Dark (2005) 5,4
I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (2016) 4,5
Guardians (2017) 4,0
The Final (2010) 5,4
I Spit on Your Grave: Vengeance is Mine (2015) 5,2
Lost Souls (2000) 4,8
Feeling Minnesota (1996) 5,4
Critters 3 (1991) rating: 4,4
Teen Wolf Too (1987) rating: 3,2
Breaking In (2018) rating: 5,4

I'm actually kind of surprised that movies with ratings in the 5s would be in the bottom 1,000 (not commenting on these movies specifically, but just the fact that, if I'm understanding, there aren't at least 1,000 movies with ratings below 5?).
Check out my movie reviews and articles at: www.cinedump.com

Or, don\\\'t check them out - see if I care. You\\\'re not my real mom anyway. Unless, you are. In which case, whatever, I\\\'ll do what I want. It\\\'s my hot body. Y\\\'all don\\\'t know me.

5 is very low for IMDB. It's not like 10% of the movies are 1s and 10% are 10s. At least 90% of movies earn ratings between 6-8. The top-rated movies are just over 8.

Movies with very low or very high ratings have very few votes.

There used to be more movies with ratings below 5 in the worst list when only 1,500 votes per movie was needed. IMDb changed the rules last year, 10,000 votes are needed now. So lots of very low rated movies with less than 10,000 votes got kicked. The current cut off Bottom 1000 rating is 5,6. The more lower rated movies get voted in the sooner the "higher" rated movies get pushed out. I'm only assuming that is how it works.

Personally, I don't trust those ratings very much. I mean, things like After Last Season have a rigged 5.1 rating (??), popcorn stuff like Avengers and The Dark Knight are apparently the best movies in human history, and others like Captain Marvel had the benefit of serious negative reviews cleanups.
Other situations are also strange: read the user reviews for Star Wars The Mary Sue Force Awakens and then compare those numbers with the stars ratings. Something is really amiss there.

I usually ignore the rating and just go straight for the users reviews, but even those are usually inaccurate. After watching Tolkien recently I decided to read those comments and most of them are from people who has zero interest in Tolkien's works, so they basically enjoyed a cliched romantic story that is a complete insult to the author.
Check my crappy and unpopular reviews and ratings:

New entry:

The NeverEnding Story III (1994)

Rating: 3,2

I've never seen any of those sequels but they sound pretty bad indeed.

Just a question, if The NeverEnding Story III is on your initial list how is it a new entry 5 days later?

I think he is editing the original post and adding in new entries?

The only one I have seen on the new list is TEEN WOLF 2.

I only remember seeing Teen Wolf 2 once and it seemed like good campy fun. It really doesn't seem to belong on a list of the worst of the worst, but IIRC IMDB excludes movies that don't have enough votes from making lists like this. This keeps out some really terrible obscure stuff that is more deserving.

Back to Teen Wolf 2 though I keep wanting to watch it again just to see how young Jason Bateman looked back then. But I can never get quite interested enough to do so.

Feeling Minnesota (1996) just made the cut with a 5,4 rating.
