Aw, c'mon, Ron, you can figure out the word "hippiekind." T'aint one of my complex words like avothiog.

Yeah- I can figure out " hippie kind".
Dam. For some one who posts about odd things- your pretty narrow minded.

Them's fightin' words, Michigan. My mind is as broad a the backside of the barn where the blues was born.

Why you talking s**t about hippies?
I ain't a hippie myself. But I got no beef with hippies. I got the same haircut!

Come on, Ronny, you can call me a lot of stuff and I'll go yep, thass-a-me, but closed-minded? In my life I been a lot of things, read a lot of books, been a lot of places, done a lot of stuff, had conversations with people from all walks, sat in on sessions where a supposed mid-Causal entity was channeled, learned to read tarot cards as a child, did sensory deprivation, ate Jesus thousands of times (he tastes like a cracker, go figger), been to brisses for the buffet tables and weddings for the blind, read Taoism, Buddhism, Mormonism, the Koran (boring), mouth-kissed a clown, swapped shoes with a drag queen and given CRP to a goldfish, thought a lot of thoughts, and I'd have to lay out the fact I been published in a lot of genres, including sci-fi, fantasy, Gollum porn, and non-genre/lit'ry to argue otherwise.

Why I once wrote a novella of the thoughts of a corpse while being cremated.

Of questionable fashion sense I may be, love, but closed-minded? Noooooooooo. Sheesh Give me a paper cut and rub salt in it, why doncha?

I also been up almost two days right now so I better wind down.

Dear- YOUR a hippie if you like it or not. Politics and "hippie" s**t don't mean s**t.
There are hippies who follow the Bible like it was made out of leaf gold, I seen hippies worship morons like Manson, I seen hippies who are some of the most goofy f**kers I ever seen on earth. I see a lot of nut job Christians and Muslims and Punk Rockers and all sortsa morons who think the'yre thing is the best. I could give a f**k less. It's all a planetary play-off. It's all bulls**t.

Nooooo. Read more closely, I didn't bash hippies, I said a hippie a***ole. Singular. One hippie is an a***ole. The hippie a***ole astral projecting.

I had a fine day visiting The Farm commune in Tennessee passing through. I've met a few jerky hippies sure but all in all hippies are fine by me.

Second boy ever to kiss me (kissed me, I did not kiss him back) had parents who were total hippies, grew weed out back, tripped as a spiritual exercise, somehow produced this kid with a 170 IQ. Good friend of mine is married to a nudist hippie.

I'm cool with a lot more people than you think I am.

But yeah, for the purposes of my earlier rant, that one particular hippie who was astral projecting? Sheesh, yeah, he was an a***ole. He kicked and dogs and wiped boogers under other people's tables, stuff like that. You'd hate him. He disses Motorhead and Bela. Real jerk. Totally.

Oh, me, I am really, really, really sleepy. I slept like four hours and change since....what day is this...since I got up on Tuesday, and I truly better go to bed. It's been fun as always weirding out with y'all, specially you, Ronny. Have a good Thursday. TTYS!

And oh yeah, to the poster with the sleep paralysis episodes way back? Good luck with that. I knew someone with the same condition, it's scary and a mess but harmless unless you overreact to it. Totally explicable from a medical standpoint, brain scans show what it is, which is basically parts of the brain that ought to be asleep staying awake in conjunction with the parts that produce dreams, generally the same centers that deal with fear and nightmares and archetypal images like the old hag and in his case his ex-wife, who was much worse. No monsters, just all in your brain. Good luck.

Everybody take care!

I think if astral travel is real then it's probably a normal part of life and probably most common in parts of our sleep cycle. It might be one of the built-in functions of sleep. I've had dreams so vivid they've left me wondering it they weren't astral. I still remember one from the '90s where I was on this mountaintop in probably the most beautiful place I'd ever been, and  even now I can see see it when I think about it.

About 6 years ago, I was experimenting with lucid dreaming, which is what you are describing here. It was a way to will your body to fall asleep while your conscious mind stayed awake. The idea was that if you could do this then you could consciously control your dreams. It was very tricky to do because you often only had one shot at it before you drifted off into natural sleep, but if you could get it done right then you could have yourself some amazing experiences. If you got into a habit of doing it then your mind would start to naturally want to do it as you drifted off to sleep. Nowadays, once every month or so, I go through that same type of hypnotic state where I feel sleep coming on but I’m still consciously awake but my body starts to feel like dead weight as if paralyzed. What I’ve never liked about it was that it feels too much like sleep paralysis where all of that weird ghostly crap started to happen, and when all I want to do is sleep normally then that is where it becomes a problem for me.

It was during that time 6 years ago where I only had one bonafide out-of-body experience where I was actually traveling to different rooms in my home and as I “walked” it felt as though I was wading through hip-deep water when actually it was just my legs back in my body laying on the bed trying to move as I “walked” around the house. What I found fascinating about that out-of-body experience was “walking” through the closed door and standing in the pitch dark bathroom and still being able to see in the dark clear as day; not “night vision” as we know it because there were no light-generating goggles or anything, and staring into the bathroom mirror and seeing nothing but the empty room behind me; no reflection of me or anything.

The problem I had with this experience though; was it an out-of-body experience or a lucid dream?   TeddyR

I have had sleep paralysis in the past. It's scary s**t. As a child and as an adult. Last time was in the 'haunted' apartment I spoke of earlier. It's just one of those things that won't hurt you, but it does mess with your head. I thought it was ghosts. Others think it's alien abduction s**t. I think it was my brain.
As far as astral projection goes- old guys up in the Himalayas do it, so they say. And who am I to say it's not real? Just because I can't do it? There are more things in this world....blahblahblah.
You can never dismiss anything. That I believe.
If you believe in Gods and souls, which seems really out of this world weird, why not astral projections?
I was told by an old gypsy lady that washing your hair with p**s will make it thicker. Yes, as a young man I tried it. It works.

and sooo...back to the original topic. yes, i believe that hauntings happen, and that physical stuff like the upside down pictures in my previous post happen. i also believe in " house memories", which i don't consider to be true hauntings, they're memories that the place you're in projects and those who are open to it can see it,hear it,feel it, even smell it.
like at my old house, every couple of days i'd wake up at 4am smelling bacon and hearing a man and a woman talking in my kitchen. i never saw them because my narrow butt ain't gettin out of bed at 4am unless it has to, lol! my husband didn't see or hear THEM, but he smelled the bacon many times . the first year in the house he'd go searching for where i hid the bacon and ask me where it was( yes, i hide the bacon) and not believe me when i told him i hadn't cooked any. just an example of house memories....
