I saw a Bluray player for sale at ZAR299 (about $30) the other day and almost bought it but no remote and no guarantee, so no.

Bluray players here (new) cost ZAR1500.00 and then they're region B only.

We picked up a region free one from Amazon for about £40 six or seven years ago. Might be worth trying something like that.
