Quote from: Rev. Powell on February 28, 2025, 09:40:55 AMzombie: I think for the kids its about the lyrics relating to their experiences, not the adventurousness of the music. And if you're not old folks like us everything sounds a little fresher.

that's very diplomatic of you :) when I was a kid my stance on music was the more esoteric, genre defying, and uncommercial the better, and anyone whose taste didn't extend beyond standard 'chart music' was my mortal enemy! !!

- in fact my taste / listening habits today are way less adventurous than when I was 12... maybe I was just a weird kid  :twirl:

That's how I was when I was a teenager and in my early 20s... anyone whose tastes didn't line up with mine (which when I was at my worst were mostly prog rock) had bad taste. Looking back I was pretty insufferable, lol. I'm much more open-minded now and I deliberately listen to well-reviewed stuff young me would have scoffed at. Usually I don't like it (I'm picky about music I like), but every now and then I find a gem I wouldn't have considered. The one thing I don't want to  be is the old fogey whose tastes are permanently stuck at what he liked as a teenager!

I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Welcome back 😊😊🐢

Indeed. In fact, Allhallowsday might like this one, which is heavily influenced by Dennis Wilson and "Smile."

I drove people crazy listening to Pink Floyd over and over, lol. But I still love King Crimson to this day.

Recently released 1967 concert. Unlike most of these lost recordings, the sound here is impeccable. No idea why this stayed in the vaults for so long.

"Luminescent Creatures" by Ichiko Aoba. Dreamy Japanese folk-rock. Her sweet girlish voice reminds me of the Korean singer Kim Jung Mi.

I'm loving the Debussy, I had not heard most of these sonatas before.

Most of it ain't. Not necessarily bad, but too uptempo, almost danceable at times. Some of it is trip hop.

Astropical (self-titled). Despite the psychedelic cover, this is contemporary Latin dance music.

"Luminescent Creatures" by Ichiko Aoba. Still trying to figure out if I like it. I should...
