Hangover Breakfast Food?

I was texting with my niece this morning. She was at a party last night, got dead drunk, and has a hangover. I wanted to suggest a hangover breakfast but since I rarely drink alcohol or had any major hangovers I didn't know what to recommend. I do remember my dad would sometimes eat grits with a splash of hot sauce and toast after a night of drinking. A friend of mine claims a regular non-breakfast meal at McDonalds is the best for hangovers.

Did you or do you still have a favorite hangover breakfast food?
Is it October yet?

In my 53 years, I've never had a hangover at all.

Hangovers are mostly caused by dehydration, so most importantly, lots of liquids.

I don't get hangovers any more, but back in my drinking days I found eating almost anything (even if my stomach didn't feel like it at first) would help. Bacon and eggs were a favorite.

And RC is right that a little nip of alcohol seems to make you feel better quickly. But just one drink, don't get drunk all over again!

Whenever I'm hungover I have some toast and a smoothie later on in the day. I try to get as much carbs/grease in before drinking a lot.
yeah no.

Water or fruit juice. Fruit cocktail or breakfast cereal (bran flakes with fruit) helps too.

Back in the 1980s I think to remember a hangover cure was basically a bloody mary (with a celery stick) and nothing else. If you google nowadays they suggest avocados with whatever on toast. The UK recommends their full english breakfast. In Germany it's always been something sour or rollmops - which is a rolled fillet of marinated herring:

I find this is a great way to AVOID hangovers:

* Alcohol cannot be the last thing in your stomach before you go to sleep.
* Soooo . . . EAT before you go to sleep. Bready, doughy, high carb foods work best for me. For instance a stack of pancakes or a few slices of pizza.
* Take your medicine BEFORE you go to sleep. Whatever your remedy of choice is . . . don't wait until you already feel terrible. After I eat, I'll drink Alka Seltzer, take Tylenol or whatever. It's too late once you already feel awful.

I keep meaning to try drinking a pint of water before going to bed if I've been drinking. but never managed to remember to try it when it could potentially be useful.
