...of a job.

They changed over to drive thru only at my place of employment, and since I don't work drive thru, I'm not needed until further notice.  Can't say this was unexpected, many are surprised it didn't happen sooner, but here it is.  I guess I should consider myself lucky, I've got a place to stay and don't have to worry about paying rent, dunno what the other poor fellows are going to do.

As of right now, the social distancing order is in effect until April 6th, I believe, but after that, who knows?  I'm hearing wildly differing speculation on how long this situation will last before we get back to what passes as normal.

Anyone else been displaced by the virus?

As much as I have something of a love/hate relationship with my job, it is the perfect one for these times. If I can't work then I stay at home and still get my full pay. I know there is 0% that I can walk into work and be told I am out of a job just like that. I wish everyone was in such a secure position and I feel for those that aren't. Really hope you can find something new soon.

AoTFan- I really feel ya, man. I was out of work for 4 years waiting for my SSI claim to be processed. If it wasn't for Tiana, I don't know what I would have done.
Tiana won't be out of work because of this virus, simply because she is a health-care worker in a nursing home.

Hopefully this will turn out good-

I'm doubly disappointed because not only is your news sad but to be honest I thought you were telling the community here you were gay, and I was going to set you up with some people.

Sorry to hear this AoTFan. I was out of work for a couple months last summer. My wife went in for surgery 2 days after I lost my job, so I stayed home with her until she was back on her feet. I sold random stuff on eBay, which brought in some money. Fortunately, my current job can be done from home as long as I have a wifi, but I'm not sure if the company will eventually scale back jobs.

Yeah, same here. We are on a 3 week (at least) furlough from the dental lab where I work, because all of the dentist offices in Alaska are closed for at least 3 weeks until further notice. Schools are closed until May, so my little boy and I are just lounging around at home, playing video games and watching movies. Thanks a lot for blowing this whole thing way out of proportion, panic-stricken world! News media and governments at all levels, combined, have successfully scared the general public more than the actual f**king virus itself has done. It's amazing how hard you still have to dig in order to find news articles about the number of people that have actually recovered from this new variation of the coronavirus that causes common cold symptoms and *possible* pneumonia.

curtis is laid off until at least the 24th, and he is NOT unhappy about it. we should be able to get this unemployment mess fixed by the end of next week, meanwhile, nothing much else will change for us, other than having time to do some stuff we've put off.

at least not alone in and at least he's not alone in being laid off. one wonders how many people will even have jobs when this ban lifts?

Today I learned that my sister-in-law's brother has died of the virus.  Also a long time friend's boss is in the hospital with it; my pal hasn't been to work in maybe 3 weeks.  No one I know is working or they're working from home.

my dad still works but not that often, i am guessing 2 morrow will be the only day he's going in this week if he takes Tuesday's off he only works 2 days a week anyways as he's mostly retired. my brother is working from home as well there is no doubt he's thrilled on that only cause than he can be by his kids. i am not sure about his wife though but this is now day 17 since i've last worked myself
