I was thinking of suicide lately.
Not on myself!
:buggedout: Just about folks who were famous and did.
One that really makes me think " Why?!" was Hunter Thompson. Then I thought again. " Oh yeah- he was Hunter Thompson."

I think Thompson burnt out his brain cells to the point where he was no longer able to feel pleasure.

Robin Williams was a huge surprise.

One that got me was the writer David Foster Wallace. Major depression is a b***h. His medication just stopped working. Such a loss to the world.

I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I dunno, I guess I'll fall back on my answer to everything when I get a brain fart-
Hitler!

David Carridine, an accidental suicide I believe.

Marilyn Monroe. But of course their are odd theories she was murdered. I think she was just doing too many drugs and booze, and it killed her.

There is always Evelyn McHale who only became famous for committing suicide.

German actor Raimund Harmstorf

He was in a few 1970s euro-cult movies, such as

The Inglorious Bastards (1978)
A Genius, Two Partners and a Dupe (1975)
Bloody Friday (1972)
They Call Him Bulldozer (1978)
Mr. Mean (1977)

He committed suicide in 1998, one day before German tabloid newspaper "Bild" was about to publish a lurid story about a mental breakdown Harmstorf went through a few days earlier. He thought the news would kill his career. Even though "Bild" posted an apology some time later, they pretty much driven Harmstorf into suicide according to his wife.

*edit to add* Harmstorf became (in)famous for squashing a raw potato with his bare hand in the TV mini-series The Seawolf aired on German TV in late 1971.

His "feat of strength" became an instant German pop culture classic (boy were people easy to impress back then) that still holds up to this day. Amazing.

Kurt Cobain.
Yeah- there are theories that his wife killed him.
I dunno.
Sid Vicious as well. I think he just OD'ed, and I don't think he killed Nancy.
When he got out on bail, he was fiending for a fix. His own mother hooked him up, and he OD'ed.

That can't be a raw tater. It's been boiled.. It looks cooked. Raw taters ain't mushy inside.
Still pretty cool.

Savannah

Pornographic film actress, suicide in 1994. She dated rock stars and *gulp* Pauly Shore. She started as a normal actress in B-Movies, it was her drug addiction that made her do porn. Apparently she was also suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, as she bought a gun because she thought she was being stalked by somebody.
After crashing her car that left a few injuries to her face she then shot herself because she thought she would be permanently disfigured.
