An incredible find, if true. Not sure how long it will take to confirm it, or how they would go about confirming it. We'll have to wait and see.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Imagine the implications for life throughout the universe if it turns out it had evolved on at least two planets in our solar system.

I am going to keep my expectations low though and assume that it is all down to some as yet unknown chemical process, but I'd love to be completely wrong here.

There's gotta be other life somewhere. We can't the best this universe has to offer.

I'm rooting for it but I don't think it's going to prove true.

I remember reading one of the Choose Your Own Adventure gamebooks back in junior high about a kid who was launched into orbit between one of the outer planets and put in cryogenic suspension for 1000 years.

The ship's computer told the kid that one of the places it could take him was to Venus since the humans had blasted holes in the cloud cover to enable the excees CO2 to bleed off and sped up the planet's rotation to 24 hours.  The equator was too hot to support human life and the story ended if you chose to go there but the middle and upper latitudes could support life.

I'm not so sure....
I mean, previous attempts to land probes on the planet found that the surface was so acidic, that it destroyed the landers.

The article specifically mentions that it isn't talking about life on the surface though.
