I had this in my watchlist on YT for a while, thinking it was the hard rock one with Gene Simmons, which I've seen before

it wasn't that one (this one has an "s")

simply one of the lamest slashers I've ever seen, but somehow enjoyable. 95% takes place in darkness/shadows. Usually I hate that, but here I didn't mind it.

The entire film can be summed up as follows:

(a) kid plays magic trick/prank on babysitter

(b) random trick or treating kids arrive at front door to ask for candy

(c) escaped mental patient phones the house

(d) repeat a, b, and c in that order 50000 times

(e) END

There was a hilariously awkward scene where the babysitter explained 'the boy who cried wolf' fable to the kid, which went on sooo long as a single take that I just knew the actress was going to screw her lines at some point (and she did). They must've left it in due to lack of time.

This actress also seemed incapable of hanging up a phone without missing. every hang up was a fumble

also I don't know if this could be called a slasher really, but it totally felt like one. just minus the slashing

any opinions on this turkey? I was surprised how much I liked it.

I think if I saw this I was disappointed, but your review sounds spot on.
If you want to view paradise . . . simply look around and view it!

I'm not sure why I'd never seen it... 1980-82 era slashers are my most watched movie subgenre

kornula

Trick or Treat (no S) with Gene Simmons and Ozzie Osborne is mediocre.

This TRICK OR TREATS sounds well below mediocre.  Now I have to watch it...but after December cause we gotta finally finish WINSLOW THE CHRISTMAS BEAR.

claws

Watched it back in video rental days. It's a bad slasher tease with no slashing happening. Good cast but the humor was oy.

if I'm remembering it right I quite enjoyed it... as far as hard rock /heavy metal slashers go anyway! although nothing quite tops ROCK N ROLL NIGHTMARE

David Carradine is kind of wasted here. (I don't mean drunk). he didn't have much to do

I've seen it.  The cover is the most interesting thing about it.  Nothing else really stands out.
