Not awful, but I definitely liked the first one more.  It doesn't feel much like a sequel, so much as the extension of the first movie's third act.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

I saw with my dad this before seeing F9/The Fast Saga/Fast & Furious 9.

We both liked it.

I like how new characters were introduced, more depth were given to the returning characters from A Quiet Place, the world that the movie takes place in was expanded beyond just the Abbot family.

Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

I thought it was pretty bad. Start was ok but then descended into stupid decision making and pointless plot lines/characters.

I'm with Winged Serpent. Not bad, but the original was better by a solid amount.

I think this benefited by being one of the first big-budget Hollywood movies back in theaters after reopening. If it had been released in a week with a lot of competition it might have been overlooked.

I don't think this one had the same inventiveness as the first one.  I liked the bits where they showed how they lived minimizing sound as much as they could.  Kind of felt like maybe they forgot a few of their ideas as well.

Also, the trailer made it seem that the whole people have become as bad as the monsters angle would have played a much bigger role in the movie.  It exists for a scene or two.

And while I don't want to deep into spoilers, they do introduce a new weakness for the aliens that makes it feel like a lot more people should have survived the apocalypse.

This was just an action movie set in the universe the first one created. Not a lot of new ideas.
