The latest update here (almost 6pm our time) is that our President has been condemned from all sides about his "fiddling while SA burns", 5000 soldiers have been deployed to deal with looters and people have been urged not to "panic buy".

Agreed: the last time I felt this concerned was in 1994 after the first democratic elections here as before they happened, there was  much violence. My city seems to be OK thus far.

It seems things have calmed down now but the looters left a trail of destruction. What is strange is that many of them claimed to be hungry but the items that were looted the most were electrical goods, such as TVs etc. A TV is not the nicest thing to eat  Buggedout

The President also addressed the nation yesterday: too much, too little, too late unfortunately.
