Today my daughter got in a huff and came and told me she's decided they should bleep out the word "fag" in smoking scenes on '80s British shows, and since they aren't going to, she will no longer watch any British shows made before this century. It's not the smoking that riles her, no, it's the use of that word in that context. All in all I just kind of sardonically look at her when she has these sweet little social justice tangents, and remember what it was like to care passionately about things at that age.

I went to an English Public School and the word 'Fag" was used there a lot: not to refer to orientation but a senior final scholar in a school boarding house on campus having a freshman do things for him like shine shoes, iron clothes, clean underpants etc.

Playing Skyrim. Guards beg me to kill a dragon that is slaughtering them. I kill said dragon. While in the same town later on I accidentally unleash a spell that pushes someone away without hurting them. One guard then proceeds to pretty much kill me with little effort.

They also get REALLY upset if you kill a chicken.
Generally, guards will let you off with a fine if you'll surrender to them.

Didn't fight back. They just ran over and cut me down in seconds.

I remember when I finished the main quest in Oblivion a guard in the Imperial City was giving me this long thank you speech praising me for saving the empire, and when his speech ended the next bit of random dialogue he spouted was, "Move along!"

I was just looking at some ad on You Tube that said- "What would you do if you had psoriasis?"
For some reason the first thing I thought of is "I'd sh!t in my hat."

George Eliot said misery is the price we must pay for morality.

Tolstoy said that while being good may not make us happy, sooner or later being bad will.

Augustine asked that God give him virtue, but not yet.

A certain German philosopher said morality does not exist.

Chesterton said morality cannot change with time.

I think it's one of my deep thought days. (As Apartment 69 showed.)

Today I saw a woman, kind of on the hippie spectrum, openly breastfeeding a baby in a booth at McDonald's, not even covering the baby and herself with a blanket or anything, and to be honest I felt that was a little much. I noticed my son, who will be twelve in May, sat in this rigid posture facing away from the woman, not daring to turn in any direction, staring straight ahead, his face blushing red, and I felt bad for him, because I could tell he desperately wanted to gawk, poor kid, so I faked having to go to the car for a few minutes, just so he could sneak some good healthy glances without his mom being there. When I came back I could tell he was deeply grateful for my absence. Yes, yes, breastfeeding is natural and not sexual, blahblahblah, but that woman reminded me she was being militant about what she was doing and wanted someone to say something.
