For the first time since I was seventeen I have no job, but I have less free time than even when I was working. Mostly I'm happy with that, and I've especially been spending time with my son like never before because unlike his sisters he goes to school at home. Sometimes he reminds me so much of my grandpa it's downright nostalgic, but of course he is his own person too, we all are, but he definitely got a dip in the same gene pool my grandpa did. After my daughter's birthday this week I have something cool coming up to do but I find the closer I get to it the more I come up with reasons to resist doing it. I used to say when I got off the job I would never leave home again, and I think maybe I'm still feeling the weight of that, just not wanting to be anywhere else. I'm also thinking about getting another dog, because Skipper is clearly lonely. In his entire life he was never alone, never lived without his brother, and the last two months have been a shock to him, something I doubt he ever he thought of, being on his own without another dog with him.  I've also concluded I been acquiring way, WAY too many books lately. I could read like a full-time job for two years and maybe not catch up to the point where I wouldn't have books purchased and waiting to be read. I been pacing myself lately to reach four miles two times a week on the treadmill instead of the lesser distances I usually have done. Two miles a day. I still like to sprint better though. Much more satisfying feeling and probably better in a survival situation, outrun your friends a bear.

OK, there are some for sure random thoughts.

Crazy mixed blessing of a day -

Woke up thirsty and starving because I'd been fasting and blasting my guts empty (colonoscopy prep)
Went and got my colonoscopy - a complete clean bill of health, no polyps, no cancers, no boogums, and no snarks!
Ate a nice brunch at IHOP, which was a wonderful way to break a 27 hour fast!
Came home and did some laundry, then lay down and watched last night's episode of YELLOWJACKETS (crazy, twisty Showtime series, highly recommended)
Had an hourlong video call with the new director of marketing for the company that has merged with my old publisher.  Lots of good advice, and I think these guys are really going to help me push my books in a whole lot of new ways.
Made a huge pot of chicken and dumplings for supper and refilled my digestive tract to the brim.
Now to pay a few bills and hit the sack early.

Ugh, lonely person on FB (I accepted her friend request because we had a lot of common friends) started randomly messaging me. I try answering briefly, not leaving an opening for a reply, but she keeps trying another question. Don't want to be rude but I also don't have time to chat with strangers. Hell, I don't have time to chat with friends!

^I can't stand those chat things!^
These days, it's because it's somebody I would talk to anyway, but it used to be because people who used those cold type 1,000 times faster than me... They would've gotten to their third or fourth point of the conversation, & I'd still be trying to answer the first line...

^Funny you should ask. I was in the hospital for the last couple of days. Low blood sugar.

I may b***h and moan about how my life is awful, but it's really not whatsoever. I am lucky to have my family and friends- and you folks- who I think of as kin; and just the kindness of strangers.
