Rev. Powell

So my local radio station is soliciting votes for top 10 albums of the 60s (not restricted to rock, but obviously rock will dominate). Here were my submissions. What are your choices?

In no specific order:

The Beatles, Abbey Road (didn't want to submit multiple Beatles albums and this is my fave)
Getz/Gilberto (this is a long shot but I hope it makes it!)
The Velvet Underground & Nico
Van Morrison, Astral Weeks
The Doors, The Doors
Jefferson Airplane, Surrealistic Pillow
King Crimson, In the Court of the Crimson King
The Beach Boys, Pet Sounds
Bill Evans, Sunday at the Village Vanguard (no shot but you gotta try)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Electric Ladyland
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I was surprised to learn the Stooges put something out in the late 60s, I didn't think they showed up until the 70s.

Their eponymous first album is 1969 and includes a song of that title.  It's a great record and a lot of fun, but not a "masterpiece".

Here's a review I wrote about the 2nd, Fun House

^ So what was #1?

You could follow the link I gave, and it's also up there because it was on Russell's list, but.... It was Sgt. Pepper. (Which I would not rank #1 among Beatles albums, but whatever, man).
