Yes.  It meets the criteria.  It's a "Monster Movie".  But the monsters are fake; biggest movie cheat of that era!

Yes.  It meets the criteria.  It's a "Monster Movie".  But the monsters are fake; biggest movie cheat of that era!

Perhaps, but the dynamic of the movie is to destroy the queens before they can fly away.  I think we may also get quite a bit of "off stage" giant flying ant commentary including FESS PARKER playing "crazy" hospitalized pilot... I think that's good enough...
