Hanniger! I'll be waiting in HELL for you!

« on: February 12, 2022, 01:26:15 AM »

Hey all.
What do or did you do to sort of prepare you for the work or school day?  This can be when you were a kid up to present day.

When I was a teen I would watch some cartoons for about an hour or so after shower/breakfast/brushing teeth.  Cartoons would often be really stupid at that time of day but what the hell, it was something.  Then head off for school to the bus stop or walk if school wasn't too far from where I lived.

When I started my first job (Pizza Hut doughmaker/cook/dishwasher) I had a programmable tv set to wake me up at about 6am or so.  I would lay there for about a half hour to an hour and watch cartoons on Nickelodeon before shower/breakfast/brush teeth and then go out the door.

These days, I have a swing shift.  I get up, shower, feed the dog, get breakfast and screw around on the internet for a couple hours before heading out.

I have to brush my teeth as soon as I get up (although that also goes for days when I am not at work), then I watch some news while I get my uniform on. Not much of a routine really, but there you go.

As an adult: I'll wake up, and maybe catch something on Netflix/Disney+/YouTube for around an hour or so, while eating.  Brush my teeth, shave and shower and head out.  I like to 'wake up' before leaving, as I feel rushed otherwise.

As a kid, I'd wake up, watch like, Power Rangers or TMNT, eat, shower, leave for school.  Occasionally our local UHF station played Godzilla movies and reruns of old sitcoms like Addams Family, so I'd switch that on occasionally.

My current routine on workdays is this:

* I wake up between 4:00 and 4:45 because I need to pee
* After I pee I turn up the heat on the second floor so the house starts to warm up before I need to get up
* Around 4:30 (or soon after if I wake up a little later) I turn on the TV and have the news playing in the background
* I drift in and out of sleep while the news is on
* Between 6:30 and 7:00 I get up, stride confidently into the bathroom and squeeze out a poop of massive proportions . . . massive, mind you
* I go downstairs , turn up the heat on the first floor, brew a pot of coffee and eat breakfast
* Somewhere between 7:30 and 8:00 I find the strength to start working (I work from home)

Now- I wake up. Pet the dog. Take a sh!t. Smoke some weed, and have some tea.

When I was working, I woke up, took a sh!t, walked to the local grocery store, bought a donut and a newspaper, and walked the mile to work.

brush teeth, breakfast, shower, get dressed for work and check my work email

what I do next depends on what time I have to be at the school I'm subbing in and how far it takes me to get there

I guess my routine is the usual stuff of getting up and getting everything done while beginning the day, which is usually both a circus of chaos and a miracle that it all somehow comes together each morning, but the topic reminded me of something that made me smile more in memory than it used to at the time.

When she was about three my littlest would come in almost every morning before dawn and rather vigorously tap on my forehead to wake me up. After a few times of that I got real good at somehow hearing her quiet little approach and waking up before she could knock on my head like that.   TeddyR
