For me, it's the 1989 game Cabal and when you beat a stage, your player runs off into the distance, doing a dorky drunk zombie-like victory dance.  :teddyr: :teddyr:

1:32 is the first of these :teddyr:

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Alex

Hail to thyself
For I am my own master
I am my own god
I require no shepherd
For I am no sheep.

Another good one is Wonder Boy In Monster Land: if you knock on a door, the shopkeeper will normally greet you with a cheery "Welcome! What you want?"  :teddyr:

If you knock on a pub / bar door, the person there asks "What?"  :teddyr:

In the first stage of the arcade game "Ghosts and Goblins," your knight character has to battle his way through a graveyard full of zombies. If you hide behind a grave stone and shoot at the stone enough times, a ghost pops up and temporarily turns you into a frog.

In a later stage, I forget what you have to hit but that ghost will re-appear and turn you into a duck. This would always cause much hilarity amongst my friends when we played "G & G" on Sega Genesis in the dorm, so we'd do it on purpose just to see the duck run around. It inspired a private joke, "Ducks cannot climb ladders!" that some of us still quote to this day. Obviously, alcohol and /or other substances were involved. :D
"If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Its dark comedy for sure,
but you got to love how silly and over the top MK fatailies

with what the franchise is now, there's a bizarre charm to these digitized actors

I crack up in CHASE H.Q. when your partner exclaims "OH NO!" and "OH MAN!" when you slam into civilian vehicles.  And when Nancy the dispatch agent calls and says "you keep farting around like that and time's gonna run out!  Over."
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

The ending of Goldenaxe where the machine explodes, the characters jump out of the machine and chase the players down the street  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

In Dark Souls (I) when you approach Gwenevere in online mode there is this orange message burned in the floor with about a million likes that reads: "Magnificent chest!"

If you're not sure why that's so funny, look up an image of Gwenevere....

Oh, wait. The thread is for arcade games, isn't it? I've....never played those. Sorry.  Ah, I'll leave the post anyway.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

Sitting Duck

Let's not forget Rampage, the arcade game where you play a human transformed into a kaiju who goes about destroying the urban landscape while being harassed by the military. Once health runs out, the kaiju reverts to human form, who remains unclad and sidles off the screen with hands over naughty bits.

And if the person your playing width is mean enough, they can eat you before you have a chance to transform back.

Speaking of Rampage
They rebooted the series a while ago with Rampage World Tour.  It was in arcades, with a few human characters to give the player at least somewhat of a story.   The main one was Dr. Elizabeth Veronica-a scientist with some large.....glasses.   Here's the some of the games scenes.  I'll let it speak for themselves .
