If this redistricting law passes in Florida.

Quote
The Republican-controlled state senate voted 23-16 to eliminate the [Reedy Creek Improvement District] district on Wednesday afternoon, sending the measure to the state house.

Disney representatives did not return an emailed request for comment on Tuesday. It was not immediately clear how the elimination of the district would affect the company or neighboring governments.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District is a private government controlled by Disney World and set up by the state Legislature in 1967 that allows it to provide government services such as zoning, fire protection, utilities and infrastructure.

The creation of the district, and the control it gave Disney over 27,000 acres in Florida, was a crucial element in the company's plans to build near Orlando in the 1960s. Company officials said they needed autonomy to plan a futuristic city along with the theme park. The city never materialized, however; instead, it morphed into the EPCOT theme park.

While obviously done for political reasons, Disney probably doesn't deserve special consideration like that.  It made sense at the time maybe, with the city building plan, but they're just a gigantic, insanely overpriced series of theme parks now.  Why does that deserve to be a city?

I was thinking the same thing....
Back when that little kid got eaten by a gator outside one of their new hotel condos, it was revealed that some of their more rustic attractions had been closed down & fallen into neglect, thus becoming a breeding ground for all sorts of unpleasant wildlife...

At the time the area was less developed.  The municipality very likely was relieved that it did not have to take on the expense of providing fire protection, utilities and infrastructure.  Making the corporation responsible for all that was likely a key part of negotiations for getting approval for the development to begin with.
