RC's Things you don't see anymore thread made me think. If you miss stuff from your childhood or the time you were growing up, why not just live like it is still that time? Pick your decade and decorate your house accordingly.

Most of anything back then you can purchase these days. Like this Faux Fur Bean Bag Lounger. How groovy is that?

How about a retro rotary landline phone?

Lava lamps never went out of style

Glow in the dark posters

and get your hippy styling going

Let's see...I own a black rotary phone- it's old and not plugged in.
I have one of those wire magazine/record racks.
I have a black lite poster. And a black lite.

I have lotsa magazines, comic books, and junk from the 60's and 70's.
I got a nice collection of old soda bottles too.

ALL USELESS JUNK.  :bluesad:
I do have 4 old radios and 2 record players. All are from the 30's-40's. 2 are made of wood. 3 of them actually work! Both record players need needles, though. Good luck finding those.
I enjoy collecting antiques. It's fun. I don't understand you getting all snarky about it. I'll enjoy my old junk and you enjoy your new junk.

I'm old, ill, and wheelchair bound. My wife is dead, my girlfriend left, and I can't even afford to go to a movie, if their was one even in town. So let me enjoy my past-because that's all I got left.
Enjoy your day.

I wasn't being snarky about it. Your thread was inspiring. I think it is cool to live a retro lifestyle. If you are living in the past and the past is all you got left, then you might as well embrace it.

Enjoy your day, too!

^ Sorry. "So yeah. Stop complaining and start living" sounded snarky to me.

I love mid-century design, especially the space age stuff.

Wouldn't mind living here:

I do have a lava lamp.

Or this place. I want a giant useless ball in the middle of my living room. Also a languid blonde in a minidress.

^ love the purple (from Revs pic). I'm re-decorating and painting my room this fall. I'm still unsure about what color, but this is giving me ideas.

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

this is partly why I love giallo movies, they tend to be crammed full of kitchy retro fashion items :)

I tend to keep it retro... I'm pretty sure that except for my smartphone, my dvd/blu ray player(+ collection), and a rarely used blutooth speaker (which was a random gift), I don't possess anything which wasn't already a thing 30 years ago. don't even have wifi
Quotethe movie was cringe, corny, cheesy and "what the biscuits" is with this atrocious acting and childish corny thing of a movie???

OMG now we know what Rover from The Prisoner got up to when he was off duty.
