One more I think early 2008:
A clumsy forklift driver at my warehouse job spun in place a little too quickly and didn't tilt his forks backwards enough.  A pallet flew off and landed square on my foot/ankle.  He apologized, clearly feeling bad, and I didn't get super angry at him or feel anything amiss until-- of course-- I got home.  Then the pain hit me in full force.  I didn't want to try to go to the hospital in the middle of the night so I just iced it up and tried to sleep through the pain.  It was the worst pain I'd felt outside of a dentist office.  The following morning my stepmom and brother helped me get to the hospital and get x-rays and a foot cast/crutches.  I only got 2 days off though-- I wanted more, but I did heal up pretty quick.

And 2019:
A stupid driver hit me shortly after coming home from work one night-- he did a "California stop" at the stop sign as I was walking across and he nailed me.  My foot ended up being busted but my adrenaline kept me from noticing or feeling pain and I angrily confronted the driver.  They did get out to make sure I was okay but they clearly didn't understand they were in the wrong.  I was a fool not to call the cops but I was sure I was okay, being able to walk and not feel pain.  By the time I got home I could hardly walk.  I had to miss a few weeks from work I think, and had to use crutches and a boot in the meantime.  I still have them (though the foot is okay now).

Also, went on vacation with my folks, sister and brother to Chicago.  Great deep dish pizza and impressively tall buildings (we stayed at a hotel right by the Willis Tower).  But the streets stunk with trash and the humidity and the traffic was awful, and some of the people were unbelievably rude.

Re-visiting 2021:
1. Busted my hand at work in a really stupid accident.  Punched a door after a close loss involving my football team.  Hairline fracture.  Missed a few days of work and had to wear a brace for a month or so.  Annoying.. I had to go to THREE different health care centers to get the first cast, get a replacement cast, and get the cast off!  Did a restaurant review of some cool restaurants that had recently popped up a few blocks from my house, with the brace on:

2. Got DANGEROUSLY, VIOLENTLY ILL twice this year!  Major food poisoning, I'd guess.. I got sick the same exact way each time-- constant machine gun poops every 15 minutes or so, and a brief bout of dizzy spells-- I actually fell to the floor and had to lay there for a full minute before I could get up again.  I eventually was able to force myself to barf the sickness up, but I had to be off work for a couple days.
3. For my belated birthday my folks, brothers and I went to my brother's friend's house in Portland a little ways past Ross Island.  It reached a record 114 or 116 degrees that day!  Thank God he had great air conditioning.
4. Texas, Florida and Mississippi are the first states to end all mask mandates.
5. A series of guest hosts fill recently departed Alex Trebek's place on JEOPARDY!, including all-time champion Ken Jennings.
6. Longtime Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford signs with the LA Rams.  He will win the Super Bowl with them the following year.
7. NOMADLAND wins Best Picture and Director at the Oscars.  Frances McDormand wins her 3rd Oscar, and Anthony Hopkins at 83 is the oldest actor to win Best Actor.
8. Weird show WANDAVISION:
Error 404 (Not Found)!!1
9. The cast of the 90s sitcom FRIENDS reunite for FRIENDS: THE REUNION.
10. Legendary sports play-by-play announcer Marv Albert retires.
11. Mike Richards and Mayim Balik are the new permanent hosts of JEOPARDY!.  They split the daytime and prime time/spinoff hosting duties.
12. Black Ohio teen Ma'Khia Bryant brandishes a knife and advances threateningly towards 2 women.  She is shot to death by policeman Nicholas Reardon.  NBA star LeBron James posts a picture of the cop and tweets "You're next".
13. Hurricane Ida strikes the New Orleans region, causing heavy flooding.
14. The awesome game show WHEW! from 1979-80 re-airs for the first time on the cable channel BUZZR.
15. DEXTER returns 8 years later in a spin-off series called DEXTER: NEW BLOOD.
16. IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA begins its 15 season-- a record for a live-action comedy series.
17. NY Governor Andrew Cuomo resigns amid a major sexual harassment investigation.  His brother Chris of CNN is fired for being involved.
18. Notable retiring NFL players: Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Jason Witten, Adam Vinatieri, Demaryius Thomas, Mike Pouncey, Maurkice Pouncey, LeSean McCoy, Mike Iupati and Julian Edelman.
19. Major face of the NFL, John Madden, dies.
20. Patrick Mahomes becomes the fastest player to reach 15,000 yards passing.
21. Justin Tucker makes the longest field goal in NFL history at 66 yards.

One more 2011:
The Seahawks become the first team to win their division with an overall losing record at 7-9.  But they sure make it memorable in the wild card game win against the Saints.  Marshawn Lynch has one of the most incredible touchdown runs I've ever seen.  That stiff arm on Tracy Porter is absolutely priceless!!

Back to 2021:
22. Tom Brady passes Drew Brees to become the all-time passing yards leader.
23. My man Josh Allen is the first player with 100 passing TDs and 30 rushing TDs in his first four seasons.
24. Las Vegas Raiders (still can't get over them not being in LA or Oakland) head coach Jon Gruden resigns after sending emails attacking women, a gay player (Michael Sam) and a black player (DeMaurice Smith).
25.My Bills' stadium rights are purchased by the Highmark insurance company, who re-names the stadium Highmark Stadium.  I can only think of this when I hear it:
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

One more 2020:
Cardi B releases her controversial and disgusting hit WAP.  She also interviews Joe Biden that year.

2022 revisited:
1. Got Covid.  Major sore throat.  Went to my health care provider down the street and they were booked solid.  Had to wait in line a long time.  Then had to wait outside the ward for an HOUR.  They peddled juice around to waiting patients.  I couldn't even keep it down.  After finally being admitted I had to wait nearly ANOTHER hour before the doctor could return.  After hearing from a number of people how much Paxlovid helped them I definitely said yes when the doctor offered it.  Had to take a week off of work as I continued to test myself at home and the line on the indicator got lighter and lighter until it disappeared and I was able to return.  While I was waiting for the Paxlovid to kick in it was very difficult to sleep at night.  Not only did it hurt to swallow but little spasms in my adam's apple kept me up.  That lidocaine rinse I had to take was the most disgusting crap.. it was sticky and you couldn't get the taste out of your mouth!  After a couple days I started feeling much better but because of the test showings I still had to take a few more days off.  I almost never take time off of work so that was okay.
2. Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer, wins the Women's NCAA Division 1 National Championship.
3.  My Bills faced the New England Patriots in the playoffs for the first time , and though Tom Brady wasn't present, it was still awesome since they slaughtered their AFC East rival!  47-17!
4. One of the worst heartbreaks I'd witnessed for my Bills followed in the divisional game the following week.. we scored with just 13 seconds left to take a 3-point lead.. and that was enough time for Patrick Mahomes to lead the Chiefs down the field and tie it.  Our defense was gassed in OT and fell with a thud.
5. The Bengals' loss to the Rams in the Super Bowl puts them at 0-3 in the big game as a franchise, and puts them one loss away from the Vikings and Bills at 0-4.  Longtime Lions QB Matt Stafford finally gets a Super Bowl win, as a member of the Rams.
More later..

I honestly think that song kills off brain cells faster than alcohol..

More 2022:
6. NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson is accused of sexual misconduct by 22 massage therapists and 2 other accusers.  He is cleared of criminal charges and traded from Houston to Cleveland (with a super-lucrative deal) but does settle out of court in almost all of the lawsuits.  After this, Watson is suspended for 6 games.  Later the sentence is expanded to 11 games and Watson is fined $5 million.
7. Longtime Seattle QB Russell Wilson is traded to the Denver Broncos.  It is an unmitigated disaster as Wilson posts the lowest QB rating of his career and the Broncos win only 5 games, as the Seahawks make it to the playoffs.
8. The Washington Football Team is renamed the Washington Commanders.
9. Oops-- after Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. hits a game-winning 3, Wizards broadcaster Glenn Consor states that "like his dad, he pulled the trigger at the right time."  Porter's father went to prison for shooting a 14 year old girl.  Consor stated that he thought his father was a different Kevin Porter (former Wizards player).
10. Whoopi Goldberg states on THE VIEW that the Holocaust was not about race but man's inhumanity to man.  Many Jewish groups levy criticism in her direction, and she is suspended for two weeks from the show.
11. The United States Football League returns after 36 years of being defunct.
12. CODA is the first streaming-exclusive film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.
13. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki (I always called her "Chucky") steps down and is replaced by Karine Jean-Pierre.
14. My Toronto Blue Jays-- who lead the league in run differential-- go out with a whimper in a 2-game Wild Card series against the Seattle Mariners, who end their franchise's 18-year playoff drought.
15. A shooting occurs in an elementary school in Uvalde, TX.  19 students and 2 adults die.  Police do not enter the school as the attacker has a military-style rifle and wait for a SWAT team.  The attacker is a former student, 18 year old Salvador Ramos, and is shot to death by a border patrol tactical unit.
16. Vince McMahon steps down as chairman/CEO of WWE over sexual misconduct allegations among former female WWE employees.
17. Star of the show CHEER, Jerry Harris, is sentenced to 12 years in prison for sex with minors and child porn.
18. Queen Elizabeth II dies.
19. Trump sues CNN for defamation to the tune of $475 million in punitive damages.

Quick 2014:
NFL star Ray Rice punches his fiancee (and knocks her clean out) during an argument in an elevator at an Atlantic City hotel.  He is suspended for 2 games.  Scumbag.

20. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul is apparently attacked at their San Francisco home by David DePape, who pleads not guilty to elder abuse, attempted murder, burglary and assault.  The incident is suspected in some circles to have been staged.
21. Oregon finally relaxes mask mandates!  They are no longer required in public enclosures (restaurants, stores, etc.) except healthcare places (like the hospital where I work).
22. Tooth/gum disease is a major problem among dogs, and I didn't realize my dog had said issue until it was too late.  Poor girl; she passed in September but she was such a loving girl I can't help but remember the good times more than the bad.  I loved her back as much as I could.
23. Started going to a new karaoke spot near me.  Food is meh (and the menu is pretty limited-- mostly just Asian dishes [and they don't even have pork noodles!] but being a bar you gotta at least have nachos..) but it's still good to get back into the karaoke swing after my shift change keeps me from going to the old place I used to swing by on the way home from work.
24. Kyle Rittenhouse starts fundraising efforts to aid in suing various major media outlets for defmation.
25. Tens of thousands are killed in each of Ukraine and Russia over the conflict.

If it ever behooves me I may pick my brain for an item or two from a past year.  For now I'm done.  Hope you all have a great Mother's Day!

Quick 2017 entry:
Joe Biden has a weird quote at a Wilmington DE pool being named in his honor, about children rubbing his hairy legs underwater.

And 2021:
Tom Brady first starts ads for Hertz focusing on electric cars.

Okay, time to update:
2023

1. The World Health Organization no longer considers Covid a Global Health Emergency.
2. Palestinian military group HAMAS, governors of the Gaza Strip, attack Israel, who declare war on HAMAS.  The conflict will cost over 25,000 lives.
3. Silicon Valley Bank and 1st Republic Bank collapse.
4. Balloons fly over the US, and are initially believed to be Chinese spy balloons.
5. Got on Craigslist and offered a job to someone who could unclog my bathtub-- he had to get a really long augur and do some extensive work but got a massive gob of hair out for $100.  I was really impressed with his work and had him replace a bunch of fence supports/posts that were weak, and I put up some new fenceboards and painted them.  Some of the remaining supports/posts don't look all that great but aren't nearly as rotted as the old ones.  The dumbass neighbor next door didn't really want to put his boards back up after they came off the rails we were replacing, but he seemed to relent and I just told him "whenever you want to; doesn't matter to me-- I will have my boards back up on my side".  Then later, he acted like I never talked to him about it; he didn't even want to acknowledge that they were HIS boards!  Well, I haven't heard from him since so maybe he's let it go.  The boards are still laying in his yard.. anyway, I was really happy with the work my Craigslist guy did and he was really happy to financially stay afloat.  Cost me just under $1,000; not bad for all that work.
6. Spent weeks chopping up the old boards/rails/etc. and boxing it up for kindling, and put it on the curb.  Posted on Facebook Marketplace or whatever it was called, and in days it was all gone!  I could have made a little coin off of that but no biggie; I just wanted it gone.  One board laid on an anthill-- UGH!  They were crawling all over me!  One Facebooker came unglued because I didn't take the ad down IMMEDIATELY after all the wood was taken.  Get a grip, bag with which one douches.
7. It was probably this year that I got a permanent thorn in my side-- a patient that was diagnosed with bedbugs in the Dialysis Unit.  He is there EVERY OTHER DAY-- to this day-- and I have to do a complete scrub down of the room he was in.  I find it hard to believe he actually has them every other day like clockwork-- and patients are often mis-diagnosed at the VA-- so this feels completely unnecessary for me to have to spend so much extra time cleaning.  But I'll take bedbugs over cockroaches any time (we've had those too); bedbugs don't carry or transmit disease through biting.  Still gross..
8. I think it was this year that we got a pretty bad winter storm in February.. I had to head back home during transit to work.  I would normally catch the shuttle down to the Lift that takes you to Oregon Health & Science University where you could just walk next door to the VA, but the tracks were frozen over!  I had to walk a good distance to the stop since a number of buses were re-routed, and man.. those Arctic-like winds..
9. The new HALLOWEEN trilogy concludes with a thud, as HALLOWEEN ENDS is rightly panned.  New ideas for a franchise aren't necessarily a bad thing, but when they're really BAD ideas..  I wouldn't mind seeing a TV series involving Michael Meyers, however.
10. Massive earthquake in Turkey and Syria kills over 60,000.
11. Trans women are banned by World Athletics from competing in female events.
12. An outbreak of 147 tornadoes hits the US.
13. The sub Titan, exploring the remains of the Titanic, implodes off the coast of Newfoundland.  All 5 aboard die.
14. Wildfires raze Hawaii, killing over 100 and burning 17,000 acres of land.
15. A quarter of the city of Derna, Libya is destroyed by the cyclone Storm Daniel.
16. Russia & Ukraine launch drone strikes on each other.
17. BARBIE is the highest-grossing movie of the year.
18. The SAG-AFTRA strikes hurts the American film industry.
19. The International Criminal Court in Hague issues arrest warrants for Russian president Vladimir Putin and the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova.
20. Safety Damar Hamlin of the Buffalo Bills collapses during a game vs. Cincinnati when his heart stops.  The game is canceled, after he is revived.  Thus the Bills only played 16 of 17 games scheduled.
21. The Texas Rangers win their franchise's first World Series.  The NBA's Denver Nuggets likewise win their first franchise title.  Also, the NHL's Vegas Golden Knights win their first Stanley Cup!
22. Aaron Rodgers ditches the Packers and signs with the New York Jets!  His time with the Jets this season lasts barely into the first quarter of Game 1 vs. my Bills as he is sacked by Leonard Floyd, causing an Achilles tendon rupture, ending his season.  Zach Wilson steps in as his replacement.  Somehow these events that should turn the game to the Bills' favor, are squashed by a really bad day by Josh Allen, who has 4 turnovers.  This season seemed lost due to an unheard litany of injuries, but a late winning streak got us the AFC East title again.  Even with so many injuries, the players that we manage to trot out there play their hearts out for coach Sean McDermott.  Impressive to see.
23. Another Bills memory of 2023 was another disgusting loss: a home stinker to the Broncos.  The offense became moribund under OC Ken Dorsey, and this game helped lead to his dismissal.  With Buffalo leading by 1 point the Bills forced a missed FG at the end.  But then.. we were flagged for too many men on the field.  Denver got another chance and it went through.
24. Not long after the Damar Hamlin game-- or not-game-- we get smoked in the Divisional Round by the same Bengals at home.  We fall behind early and never recover.  Barf.
25. Donald Trump is ordered to pay advice columnist E. Jean Carroll $5 million after accusations of sexual abuse/rape.
