"A period piece set in 1920s Shanghai, the series reveals how a 10-year-old Sam Wing – who becomes the future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie – met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. I have to say that this isn't the Gremlins revival I was hoping for. 

It doesn't look bad or anything, it's just 100% NOT what I would have thought of when I thought of a new Gremlins series. 
Hopefully it leads to a real Gremlins 3.

The only part of GREMLINS I liked was Dick Miller.

I'm not really a fan of the series but glad they're trying something different. People complain about a lack of creativity in Hollywood, and they also complain if a remake is not exactly the same as the original.

I do have to give them points for trying something new. 

Frankly, I've always been surprised that Gremlins never got a cartoon show in the 80s or 90s.  It just seems like it would have been a perfect fit for one.
