"A period piece set in 1920s Shanghai, the series reveals how a 10-year-old Sam Wing – who becomes the future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie – met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. They strike up a lifelong friendship as Wing attempts to return Gizmo to his family, encountering and sometimes battling colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore.

"Meanwhile, the two and street thief Elle are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins."

I have to say that this isn't the Gremlins revival I was hoping for.

It doesn't look bad or anything, it's just 100% NOT what I would have thought of when I thought of a new Gremlins series.
Hopefully it leads to a real Gremlins 3.

I never saw either Gremlins movie because the ads gave me nightmares as a kid  :bluesad:
Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

I believe in the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

The only part of GREMLINS I liked was Dick Miller.
Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)
Interviewer-"Does Dracula ever end for you?
Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

I remember laughing hysterically at the part where the girl's drunk dad died stuck in a chimney. (Uh, in the original.)
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

I'm not really a fan of the series but glad they're trying something different. People complain about a lack of creativity in Hollywood, and they also complain if a remake is not exactly the same as the original.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

I do have to give them points for trying something new.

Frankly, I've always been surprised that Gremlins never got a cartoon show in the 80s or 90s.  It just seems like it would have been a perfect fit for one.
