TV shows that had good endings.

We all know about tv shows that had terrible endings (GoT, Lost), or were cancelled too soon (Firefly, Surface), but what shows have you seen that ended at the right time and on the right note?

Ones that spring to my mind are Supernatural (should have had a Buffy crossover though  :bouncegiggle:, but the Scooby Doo episode was a lot of fun), Lucifer (ok, maybe I could have watched a few more seasons but it ended well), and Babylon 5 (the whole series was conceived with a 5-year arc which it managed).

I'm very much in the minority here but I think that How I Met Your Mother ended the way it was supposed to. Life doesn't always work out the way you want it to.

Cheers also ended well with the feeling that although the bar is closed, it will be open tomorrow and life will go on.

The Prisoner ended well for me: Number 6 will always be a prisoner, even though he is free.

Magnum PI - the original series - and The Sopranos had confusing endings but still good.

BIG BANG THEORY had a wonderful, poignant ending.
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

Trevor

Newhart had one of the funniest endings ever.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

The Omega Factor: you expect more and then that is it.

The Day of the Triffids (1981): leaves us with hope for the future of humanity.

The original MST3K ending where Mike, Crow and Tom watch a familiar movie on TV.

The Stand (original): leaves us with hope with the birth of a healthy baby from immune parents.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Jericho.

Ok, so the second season was only half as long as it should have been, but at least it got that half-season to wind up the storyline. I think that was the first show both myself and Kristi were hooked on.

BYKER GROVE

the final episode is one of the most absurd things ever broadcast on tv (in a good way)

I second Trevor's picks of "Newhart" and "MST3K."

i was quite happy with the ends of all 3. was middlish happy with the end of warehouse 13 and the librarians, but those could have easily had another 3-4 years in them.

Lucifer had a good ending but like you, I feel it could've gone a bit longer.
"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell."

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide.

ER

Halt and Catch Fire. The quality never slipped, right to the end of that time warpy last scene.

Mad Men likewise pulled off a decent ending.

So did most of the Star Trek series from the '80s and '90s.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

Sitting Duck

Cowboy Bebop would have had a good ending if they had stopped at "Hard Luck Woman".

Are you talking about the live action show or the anime?

MALCOM IN THE MIDDLE had a great ending, very uplifting and fitting with the series.
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION was great too.
If you want to count it, FARSCAPE too had a great conclusion, but it had to be in the form of a mini-series, since it was cancelled and later picked up.
