CREATURE (2023)

  I just ran across this on Netflix and decided to watch the first episode to see if it grabbed me.  It did, and I was hooked!
This six episode series is a Turkish adaptation of FRANKENSTEIN, set in the early 20th century.  A young medical student named Ziya dreams of conquering death; he enlists the aid of an eccentric professor named Ihsan to build a machine that will reanimate the dead.  The first attempt leads to the death of Ihsan, but then Ziya tries again, this time seeking to revive his mentor.  He succeeds, but what comes back to life in Ihsan's body is no longer entirely human . . .

This show was brilliantly done!  I was very impressed with how they took the elements of the classic story and adapted them to Turkish culture without undermining the timeless message of Mary Shelley's classic.  5/5, highly recommended.
